Hi! My husband & I, after doing much research, and driving all over the Orlando area, decided that we wanted to move to Clermont. We bought some land this summer, in Greengrove Estates, which is off of SR 33 in Clermont. Does anyone know anything, about this neighborhood or area? We've driven around there, and did research online, but I'd love to hear opinions from someone who actually lives in the area. I'm a teacher, and I've heard that there is a teacher shortage in FL, and that the Clermont schools received decent grades from the state. Any thoughts, about the community, the schools, etc.?
Thank you!

I think feralpeg lives there. Correct me if i'm wrong. I was wrong!

I'm pretty sure that ducklite lives there

 Bump this up for you.

No, I think FeralPeg is in Windermere, but Ducklite (and several others I can think of) are in Clermont.

I live in south Clermont and love it but the place is booming!! What used to be beautiful rolling hills and orange groves is now all turning into roof tops. Yes, there is always a shortage of teachers but an even bigger shortage of classrooms/schools. My daughters school is about 700 over capacity. They just voted down year round or double sessions for next school year and will keep their coteachers but might be penalized by the state for it. You can check out the county school website at www.lake.k12.fl.us.

Good luck!

In 2002, it was projected that more than 90 thousand!! new homes would be built in the Clermont area in the next 5-7 years!!!
Hwy 50 has seen some serious booming in the last few years, that SuperTarget, Home Depot, McDonalds and Cracker Barrell restaurant area of 50 was nothing just a couple-3 years ago. It was amazing how fast that whole section just sprang up out of no where!

Hi! What does that mean, double sessions for school? By year-round school, do you mean a calendar where the kids are in school for 1 quarter, then off for a few weeks, then back in school again, instead of having one long summer break? Just curious -I'm in NC, so I don't know much about Florida politics, as far as schools there go.
Thank you for the help!

Sorry I missed this one yesterday.

I didn't even know Route 33 ran through any part of Clermont. I've taken it from Groveland up to Leesburg when an accident on the turnpike made traffic on Route 27 horrible. I've never heard of Green Grove Estates. Is it north or south of Route 50? Who is the builder?

I love Clermont. We settled there after spending three years looking around the Orlando area for the right community and builder.

I can't help with the schools, my son is done.

Hi! Greengrove Estates is on SR33, and is outside the Clermont city limits, though it says Clermont on our address. It's almost right across from Ott Williams Rd, if you know where that is. It is south of 50, and there's no one builder; it's a gated community with larger lots (from 1 to 29 acres), and we get to choose our own builder. I was just wondering if you had any input on the area, beyond what we've been able to find online. I've done a Dis search on "Clermont," which was helpful, and I really enjoyed reading about your home there, though I know we're in a completely different part of Clermont.
Thank you again for any help!

I just looked it up on Mapquest--we're about five miles from you as the crow flies. Which builder are you going to use?

Double sessions means some kids go to school from 6am-noon and others go from noon-6pm. Yes, they were talking about this being an option. I would have pulled my daughter out if this went into effect. Year round means they go for 6-9 weeks and then have 2 or 3 weeks off, then start again with the 6-9 weeks. This would be OK for me as I only have one child but when they tried this in the past, they didn't put siblings on the same "track" so you could have one in school while another was home on their "break".

Hi! Thank you for the information about the schools; that is very helpful to me. I think, as someone who has no children of my own, I would probably really enjoy the year-round school - it would give me a chance to take a vacation at some time other than summer :)
Ducklite, thank you for your post. We don't know yet about the builder; I've been doing a bit of research, and had heard good things about Domigan homes. If you have a builder to recommend, I'd appreciate it!
Thank you again - this is all SO helpful to me! It's been fairly stressful, trying to do this all long distance. Our plans are going to be complete this month (fingers crossed), so we're going to have to get serious about finding a builder, construction loan, etc.
