Hi there,

I can tell you a bit about Clearwater. It's about 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive from Orlando. It has a LOVELY beach; the sunsets are absolutely fantastic.

There are a few nice eateries (along with the usual suspects such as IHOP and Waffle House). We enjoyed a place called Cooters which had lovely seafood and the other really nice place there is called Frenchy's (they have a couple of restaurants in Clearwater).

There are diversions in Clearwater such as a Pirate Ship which sails round with food and drink and music, also the Sea Screamer.

If you look on the UK Trip Reports page, Tartan Tigger spent a day in Clearwater and did the Screamer etc and does a really detailed report about it (Hope you don't mind me promoting you TT!)

HTH - if you want me to try and dig out web addresses for any of the above, drop me a PM and I'd be glad to try and help.

Cheers

Karen

We went to Caladesi Island 3 years ago, its a gorgeous beach on an island and not much else, very relaxing, take a picnic. You have to go north of Clearwater through Dunedin to honeymoon Island where you pay to park, then catch a little boat over to the Island. I think in high season there is a boat from Clearwater but we went in February so had to use this one. We sat on the beach watching the dolphins playing.
If you want something with more than just the beach you may prefer Clearwater as there are bars restaurants, activities etc.
