Clearwater Beach

No Disney trip for us this year but we are going to get a few days at Clearwater Beach.

Does anybody know of good budget hotels, interesting restaurants or things to do?

This is an excellent small hotel one block from the beach and less than a four minute walk. The rooms are very large, clean and the owner is quite pleasant. There is free parking right out front and the rooms are in the $65 range and up. I note there are some excellent reviews on tripadvisor that are all true. This area is safe also, we had no worries walking to and front the beach and restaurants to our motel at night.

if you have children who have see/enjoyed the movie Dolphin Tale, the real Winter the Dolphin is at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. seewinter.com
I've seen some reviews and such on TripAdvisor, but have yet to make it there myself. i believe they offer a few different packages, mostly inexpensive, and offer a variety of things to do. Doesnt sound like a FULL day like trip, but worth a visit for a couple hours perhaps?
