I am getting a little burned out on just plain regular water. I remember that I used to love the Clearly Canadian flavored waters (strawberry was my fave) but I have not seen them in years. Does anyone know if they still make them and where I might possibly be able to find them?

Thanks!

Have never heard of them before now! There is a "contact us" option on their site. Maybe you can write to them to see if they distribute their product in your area? Good luck, Becka!!!

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen them in ages, either, Becka! I wonder if they're regional???

From what I remember of them, though, I think they have a lot of sugar in them for the flavoring.

Have you ever tried the LaCroix (sp?) water? It's sparkling water in cans and comes in flavors (lemon, lime, and raspberry come to mind...). I don't think they're sweetened, though.

After going out to dinner the other night and having San Pelegrino with our meal, I have decided to buy some of that, and have it instead of regular still water with dinner. Throw a wedge of lime in there, and it's VERY refreshing. Not quite a glass of wine, but hey...;)

YIKES!

Serving Size 8 fl oz (240 mL)

Calories 90
% Daily Value*
Sodium 30 mg 1%
Total Carb 22 g 7%
Sugars 22 g 0%

There is more than one serving in a 14 oz bottle. I don't think I want to spend 22 grams of carbs on 8 ounces. Do they make sugar free?

I'll have to look for it at the store.

They sell them here, they are sweetened. My DS drinks them. Grape, Rasberry, Blackberry and Cherry and I think they have a Lemon Lime flavor.

We sell them in the store I work for. They are good, but are not made with sweeteners. My store brand has a calorie free sparkling water that is so good! it is made with aspartame. I drink that when I need to get some "fizz" in me.

I used to love Clearly Canadian and drank it all the time!! Yum! They sell it at our local IGA store here, but I cannot waste 22 carbs on a drink! LOL

Clearly Canadian is simply another type of sugared beverage. I don't see it having much utility in weight-loss.

I am doing WW so 90 calories would only be 1 pt. and when I am wanting something a little sweet it would be a way to get in the sweetness as well as some additional water. Not everything we eat/drink while trying to lose weight has to be 100% nutritional IMHO.

Every bit of nutritional value helps, though. I don't get anything "more" out of Clearly Canadian than I'd get out of artificially sweetened soda, like Great American (from Wal-mart). By the same token, for the SAME 90 calories (which I suppose you're saying is 1 point, though the way I've heard it 90 calories would be 2 points -- regardless), I could have a Silhouette Sugar-Free Fudge Bar, and satisfy my sweet-tooth and chocolate cravings.

Different strokes for different folks. I find your post to be antagonistic. Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but I don't find your writing style to be pleasant at all.

You are right it would be 2 pts. I was mistaken. However, while you may rather have a Wal-mart soda or a Fudge Bar I would rather have something that I like for those 2 pts. Isn't it great how we can all find something that we like and still be meeting our weight loss goals?

Personal tastes are different for everyone. I wouldn't spend the carbs because that's just me. Becka, your eating plan is very different from mine so it's a good treat for you.

Brian likes lots of nutrition in his treats.

That's what's so great about WISH, so many different personalities represented here :)

Brian,

I have watched you over the years and admire what you've been able to accomplish, you should be very proud. :)

What I'm sure you have also learned is that each person needs to make the choices that work for them. There is no exact science to losing weight and we ALL will make some mistakes.

Although we do appreciate you sharing your tips and offering suggestions based on your experience, I think we ALL need to be sensitive to other WISHer's feelings. This is a difficult time for most of us and we are trying to get through it together, as best we can.

They still make it-I can get it in NY usually about 1.25 a bottle...good stuff...

Sorry you took it that way.

And that's really the key -- doing what is necessary to meet weight-loss goals, and in addition, prepare yourself to meet your weight-maintenance goals.

I think my message was taken wrong. I am very careful to case what I said as "I don't get anything 'more' out of..." and "I could have a... satisfy my ... cravings." One of the best ways of supporting yourself is affirmations (see the recent Easter-related thread).

By the same token, I'd expect to get hammered :) if I started with "You should..." or "You'd be better off..."

Becka,

Have you tried the Sam's Choice flavored waters from Wal-Mart? They come in a wide variety of flavors and a sugar-free variety, and are lightly carbonated.

0 points, and I think they're pretty tasty. I try to keep a few on hand for when I get burned out on plain water and want a change of pace. (I've seen some generic versions of this in grocery stores, too.)

Side Note:
I must admit- my first thought was that I would NEVER blow 2 points on water! Then I realized that this is not so different from the 3 points I occasionally use for a glass of wine or a gin and tonic. We all need our own treats, and it is important to recognize what satisfies us. As long as we are tracking our points and we're still getting in the nutrition we need, we can fit just about any treat we want into a WW program. Including Clearly Canadian!

If I was on WW, I would blow up to 5 points on NY Seltzer water!! Omg, that stuff is awesome! LOL...of course, I can't get it anymore up here, but once in awhile I will find it somewhere while traveling! I love that stuff...it is probably a good thing I can't find it though! LOL

:):)
