Cleaning Vera Bradley purses

Anyone have any luck? I need to get mine washed- should I dry clean it or take a chance on the gentle wash cycle and line drying?

I have two and I've never had a problem washing in the machine. I put them in alone (they're both black), gentle, and I use Woolite for darks.

My mother usually puts hers in the machine, too, only with her last one, somehow the machine chewed up the handle. She was able to sew it back into place, though.

And if it has one of those fabric-wrapped cardboard bottoms, take that out! Mum left hers in by mistake once and ended up with shredded cardboard all over everything.

Here's what their website says (in regard to the Cotton bags)

For Classic Collection products made of 100% cotton, we recommend machine washing (cool/gentle cycle) in mild detergent, then air-drying. Please note: Some items have a solid base that must be removed before washing (if the base is sewn-in, it can be safely washed). Vera Bradley does not recommend the use of Woolite® since it is not recommended for cotton fabrics. For Vera Bradley products made of fabrics other than cotton, special cleaning instructions are included in each item (spot cleaning is generally recommended).

My sister got chocolate on her purse. She stuck it on mild in the wash and air dried it and it came out like new. I was shocked. I need to try that with my backpack one.

Thanks for asking this question! I think I am going to go put one in the wash now. I have a garment bag that can protect it in the washer.

I put a few of mine in the washer on gentle and lined dried...no problem! Like others have said, remove the "bottom" if your purse has one.
