My poor dh has been outside for about 3 hours cleaning up after this snow storm. Luckily he went out SEVERAL times yesterday and shoveled off the steps and deck and walkway..... otherwise he'd probably be out there all day! Why do we live in Maine???

We have a lawn/snow service "on call" for major storms :thumbsup2. Dh and the kids do most of the shoveling for the regular storms though.

My husband would snowblow all week rather than pay someone else to do it. KWIM?:lmao:

ITA--It just gets so tiring. The weekend before Christmas my DH was out for hours cleaning off.

And then the weeks for schlepping around on salt filled walkways, thru dirty snow, to you salt covered car. It all just stinks!

I hear ya!!! I just keep thinking of summer and fall and the beach, that's what keeps us here. This storm in particular has been bad because it's taking forever to leave!

He's trying to get it extra clear in case I HAVE to go out (recovering from a hip replacement) he wants to be sure I don't fall. Of course he fell off the roof last week.... clearing the ice off the eaves (sp?)........ we're quite the pair!

Why do you live in Maine without a snow blower?;)

When it's windy like it has been the snow goes so many places that the snowblower just can't get too...wish it was so easy just to use the snowblower and be done!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! My husband is currently dealing with a bad knee so I worry about him when he's out and about in this weather. Don't need more issues.

OH, we have a snowblower and he's using it. The end of the driveway was packed SOLID from the plow going by.

Gotta love those plow drivers;) we just finished working on the driveway and the sidewalk guy just came by and dumped boulders at the bottom of the driveway. Those guys are the worst, they never stay in the vacinity of the sidewalk, tear up the lawn if they do it when there's not much snow on the ground. One night we woke up because it sounded like our front lawn was being plowed and it was the sidewalk guy almost hitting the tree in our yard:eek:

LOL- our neighbors lost a tree on the esplanade a few years ago. Technically the city lost a tree.... the sidewalk plow guy just went right over it. :confused3 Nice little flowering crab apple tree. My husband does the sidewalk in front of our house, he doesn't want the city ruining his grass.

we have a plow service as well. Our driveway is over 300 feet long.. all hubby has to do is walkway to house from driveway and side deck/stairs. He's out there now. Why o why...didn't we move to FL, oh yeah...hurricanes!

It is $30 to do our drive and sidewalks--Dh is cheep too but for moving 2' of snow, this is a bargin.

Snowblowers don't always work--our last storm was heavy, wet, wet snow and it clogged up snowblowers. Also, the boulders at the end of the drive from the plow wouldn't go through a snowblower.

We had the streetplow go 8 feet into our yard to dump snow once - I gave him such a good 'talking to' that he stayed way over on the other side of the road after that!

We use those fiberglass pole markers to line the edge of our lawn now - we still lose a bit of grass/soil each year, but not the 4-6 foot trench/ditch they used to create. We don't have sidewalks up this high on our hill, so it's straight grass to the road. The salty sand they spread kills the grass each year as well.

Hubby was up north skiing yesterday, so I shoveled twice, about 3-4 inches of fluffy stuff each time. The mush at the end of the driveway was a struggle though. Hubby shoveled this morning, but it's snowing AGAIN :sad2:

Seriously is it ever gonna stop snowing up here??? I mean come on it's been snowing since Thursday

I know-we did the same thing and this morning he snowblowed out the drive again-we will still have the plow guy come (long story there-bad weekend in our area). Even though this isn't my favorite thing to do, it beats waking up to news of another murder or robbery every morning. We rarely lock the doors, don't worry about "toys" being left out overnight or if we are away.

Where we live we virtually get no snow so I have to send my kids to Maine to my in-laws so they can have their once a year snow experience. They can't wait until the end of this month.

We live right on the coast so the ocean keeps the snow away. We would appreciate it if you could send us some!
