Cleaning the shower floor?

Hi all,
I have been one spoiled lady for a lot of years having a cleaning lady but now she is gone :sad1: My question is this.....my white shower floor has been looking dirty and bleach isn't doing the trick. I've even tried soft scrub with no luck. I think it's a fiberglass stand up shower unit. What can I use to clean it sparkling white again?

I have the same problem and if I knew it was so hard to clean, I would have tiled the shower instead! I've tried baking soda and vinegar. This works somewhat. I've tried soft scrub with bleach. This works better but you need to scrub it hard, let it sit and 'bleach', then scrub again and rinse. In general, you need serious elbow grease and a lot of hard scrub brushes to get this remotely clean.

Now - if anyone else has any other good advice, I'd like to know too!

Two suggestions: Magic Eraser (it works, but it takes some effort) and/or CLR. I use CLR in my shower/tub combo and it works great. Spray it on, wait 10 minutes, scrub with a sponge, rinse with water. CLR in the yellow spray bottle.

Make sure you use your fan and try not to spend too much time with the chemicals. I don't find it as harsh as bleach, but harsher than Windex or 409.

I use Scrubbing Bubbles on my tub/shower. I'm the only one that uses it for showering so it doesn't get cleaned that often. It looked so nice and clean the last time I cleaned it, I decided to have a bath.

I second the magic eraser made especially for the bath. Expensive but worth every penny. I use cheap cleaners for weekly cleaning but when it starts getting scummy use the magic eraser again...

I sprayed mine with scrubbing bubbles, let sit about 20 min then used a steel wool and it got white! It didn't require a lot of elbow greese either. Didn't ruin the floor either and mine is fiberglass textured floor. I was having a problem getting all the little crannies clean until I tried the steel wool. Don't know why I didnt' think of it years ago. Tried to use the magic eraser and that worked somewhat but I guess the floor disenigrated it there was hardly any left.

Steel wool is a big no no as it will scratch the floor. Even if you do not think it did any damage it did you are just not seeing it yet because the scratches are too fine to show up well.

I use scrubbing bubbles on my fiberglass shower. Also the Mr. Clean dry eraser for the scuff marks. A little elbow greese and it works great. Never tried the ones for just the bath. I have the reg. everyday ones.

I use Oxy powder. I buy the big 10 pound box from costco and it lasts. Sprinkle some on after you shower so the bottom is a little wet and let is sit about 20 minutes or so....scrub with a brush and it comes out perfectly clean. And, its not that hard of a scrub....it comes clean quickly you dont have to kill yourself doing it.

I forgot to say what I scrub it with after leaving the Scrubbing Bubbles on.

I use a scrub brush to clean the bathtub/shower.

Barkeeper's friend is the best. Only thing that keeps our white sink clean!

I use comet, works fine for us. Our fiberglass shower is 18 years old, so far so good.

I second the magic eraser. Our standup shower has built in grooves and is easily 20+ years old. They now sell a bigger magic eraser. I put some soft comet as my cleanser and then use the magic eraser. You may need two. It is well worth it. I would not use anything too abrasive like steel wool because it will peel the paint/glaze right off.

I second the Barkeepers Friend, with a stiff brush. Wet it slightly and make a paste then scrub, it may take a little bit of effort but not much. The Magic eraser did get a stain out of the tub that had been there for a while, though if its just general dirt build up the barkeepers friend will work.

I'll third this! I use it, with a scotch-brite type scrubbing pad (the one with the handle) in my 2 bathtubs, which are fiberglass. I actually read the suggestion of Barkeepers Friend here on the Dis! It is the only thing that gets my white tub looking clean. And it's cheap.

I've had good luck with "The Works" tub and shower cleaner. No hard scrubbing needed. :goodvibes

This is what I use. I let it sit a bit longer. Sometimes I'll stop up the drain and fill it with water and Oxy if I want to clean up higher.
