Cleaning=Self-Cleaning your Hotel Room or Villa

Does anybody go into "disinfect mode" once they arrive to their hotel or villa? I have a habit of disinfecting the toilet and the bath tubs. Just curious.

Only the bath tub if we choose to use it. I have a home and know it is cleaned very well by the man/co I employ. It is one of those things that I have to do antway. My kids love the deep roman tubs so before they use them they get disinfected.

I carry my trusty Lysol and spray down EVERYTHING people touch---remote controls for the tv, phones, light switches, curtain rods, doorknobs, sink handled, toilet seat, bed spreads (even though we don't use them), table tops, chairs, etc. I can go through an entire can of Lysol in a room.

I carry the stuff (just in case) - but in the timeshares I have stayed at - I haven't needed it (so far).

I always do the whirlpool tub - with a little (very, very little) detergent, clorox, vingear and let it run for 15 minutes.

I don't use the shower - but my mother has never complainted about the showers.

I even wash all the dishes I know I'm going to be using. It takes mom (me) about a hour to go through the room and disinfect. Good thing it doesn't affect DH and DD, they just hit the pool while I'm cleaning. I thought to ask the question because on the Disney Resorts page I read about bed bugs in two of the threads. I find that very disturbing. I'll ask the question over there too...I have yet to stay on Disney . I can't wait.

When we stay in Villas I always first clean the dishwasher there is always food debri left in the filters, then proceed to run all the crockery through on a quick wash, I have even been known to wash the bed linens I am so sad I know
But I once watched a programme on TV that did tests on Matress covers and bedlinen some of the things they found were enough to make your skin crawl.

We always rent our house through www.villadirect.com . They always disinfect everything and put those paper bands around the toilets.

I suppose that's no guarantee, but it gives me a good feeling.

I spray with lysol everything and run the dishwasher as well as run the washing machine with bleach and detergent. I do not use the utensels but rather buy paper plates, cups and plastic knives etc. The bed bug thing grosses me out and I wish I knew what to do about it. Another poster wrote that they call down for a new set up meaning spead and blanket which I will do this time b/c it really grosses me out to think of who might have done what (or even sat naked putting getting dressed) on those things. Also I wear flip flops in the shower b/c that disgusts me also.
