Cleaning Lady

I still don't understand why Pete was calling her that? I know I am dense sometimes, so could someone help me out.

I think Pete meant that she became president of WDW, even though she had no prior experience. "Cleaning lady" was simply a way of saying that she had a job that did not require the skills to become upper management of such a large operation.

I was very surprised to hear her background and now, I'm also a bit angry at the stupidity at Disney to put someone with very little executive, business managment experience into such an important position at WDW. I also miss Matt Ouimet. He was a shining star in the true Disney fashion and they lost him because they were afraid of his abilities.

I can't tell you what a great job Matt Ouimet did out here at Disneyland! The park was falling into incredible disrepair, and people were really starting to wonder if the 50th anniversary was going to fall flat on its face. Then Matt took over and things changed dramatically. The park has never looked so good as it did in 2005, and park attendance went through the roof as a result. I heard story after story of Matt walking though the park, just checking everything out, talking to guests and CMs. The current president is really only seen in the parks for official functions, and even then he seems uncomfortable being there. Losing Matt Ouimet was a huge loss for the Walt Disney Company.

Ed Grier? I've heard he seems uncomfortable in the parks. That's really sad! How can you work for Disney and not love the parks? DL is Walt's park and he walked there. If it was good enough for him, it should be good enough for Ed.

Believe me putting someone in a position of management that lacks the skills for the job is detrimental on many levels. I just left a department that lost millions due to this lack of insight. It is scary on the boss/employee side also. When you know more than your boss it is a sad day. I can not believe a company as big as Disney could be this incredibly stupid to think there will not be fall out from this. Lets just hope it is not too big.

I'm not out at Disneyland. I did hear that before Matt Ouimet that Disneyland was falling apart, rides didn't work and the previous management had only focused on the retail end. Is that correct? I liked Matt Ouimet and Disney showed very poor judgement in loosing him.

Also for the parks, I feel that management should be comfortable walking in the park, seeing how things are going and generally checking on the park.
