Cleaning Glass Shower Doors?

I just did a deep cleaning in our master bathroom. It looks great and feels very clean, except the glass shower doors are still filmy. I think it's a combination of hard water and soap scum, and it didn't come off when I scrubbed it. Any tricks to get them clear again?

I've had good luck with using dampened used dryer sheets (I use bounce, but I don't know that it matters) to wipe down the doors. I save them regularly, so I don't have to skimp on how many I use. It usually takes me several passes to get all the film off.

They get etched from the hard water. Take a damp cloth and spray a small amount of lemon oil on it then wipe them down with that. It won't make them clear but it will make them appear clear.

And once you get them clean, put RainX on them. It's in the automotive section, designed for car windows to repel water. When we remodeled, the people from the shower door company recommend you clean the doors once a month, and reapply the RainX.

If it's just hard water marks, white vinegar should get it off.

If it's mineral etching, you'll need something more serious. I've had some success with Barkeepers Friend and have even resorted to Meguiars products meant for car glass.

I keep a small bottle of Dawn dish washing liquid and one of those blue kitchen sponges that has a rubber, abrasive side in there. The Dawn makes the glass sparkle! (Ugh I can't even shower without having a cleaning task!!!). I also keep a
small scrub brush to use the Dawn on the tile. (Ugh I can't even shower without having a cleaning task!!!)

I use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. It takes off the film quickly and easily. I use it on the tile as well.

To keep the glass clean, I've had good luck installing a chlorine/ mineral filter onto the shower head.

I know, I know! Pick me. I live in an area where we soften our water (very hard), and we STILL used to get this hard water build up and film. I tried everything. Vinegar. The solution of vinegar and dawn. Barkeeper's Friend. Lemon juice. CLR. Everything. But, I finally found something that WORKS. Not a harsh chemical. Reasonably pleasant smell (sort of like a toothpaste smell). No need to wear gloves or be afraid of fumes. It's called "Bring It On" and it's sold at Ace Hardware stores or on line. It WORKS. Yes, it does. It will make your chrome fixtures sparkle like new. It will make your glass doors clear. It works wonders on porcelain. It is NOT however for plastic or acrylic. It's not "cheap," but I've been using the same $9 bottle forever and still lots left. You don't need very much. Follow the directions. Videos available on line with some amazing before and afters. I've not done one, but I wish I had. It really is that good.

Microfiber clothes! I tried every cleaner out there, but it took using the microfiber to get a great result.
