Cleanest Beaches nearby Tampa?

I agree with those who responded Clearwater Beach. It has a terrific beach. We have been there several times and enjoy it very much. For a different alternative activity we have been to the Wikkiwachee River (I may have screwed up the spelling on this, sorry) several times and have enjoyed this too. It is a fresh water river (I don't think there are any other kinds but...) that is always a constant temperature and is spring feed. It is clear bottomed so you can always see the bottom no matter how deep it is. This is where they have the mermaid shows and is a habitat for manitees. I don't believe they allow jet skis but we have canoed it several times and think it is a great time. I think the best part of this might be that the water is pristine, I would double check it if you can with some Florida government authority but it might eliminate the bacteria worry. Have fun!

We have always found the beach from Madeira Beach up to Clearwater has ALWAYS been so clean and beautiful

After all this though, I think we might go down to the longboat key, anna maria island, holmes beach area. #1 is less crowds, and #2 you can park easily, and #3 we could park at some places 50 ft away from the water. Walking through it or carrying her for that short a distance should not be a problem. It only adds 20 min to one hour to the driving. We could drive until we see an area where there is not a long walk. Holmes beach has a jetski.
