Don't forget to periodically clean out your dryer vents. They can become quite clogged. If your's leads to the outside & is accessible, go outside & clean that part also.

I second that. I always clean mine after every load, but noticed I had a hole in the lint trap and started getting a funny smell. DH said it could be lint that got onto the drum and was burning, so he took the whole dryer apart and cleaned it out and replaced all the vent hoses. It was amazing how much lint ended up inside the dryer - it is such a fire hazard.

Just wanted to add that you should make sure nothing is close to the dryer vent when you pull the lint thing out to clean it. I had a pack of kitty treats fall down a few months ago and had to take the whole back off the dryer to get them out! Not funny then, but it is kind of funny now:lmao:!

I recently changed my whole dryer vent pipe. It was the flexible metal type. It was about 4 years since I last replaced it and it was about 1/3 clogged with lint. This time I used rigid metal pipe.
