Has anyone experienced this on board? Are certain decks more open than others? I can't ride in the back of a two door car and elevators give me the jitters.

My husband has claustrophobia - and the ship doesn't bother him at all! We make sure to get an outside cabin so there's a window. The decks are all very open & spacious. The elevators might bother you if they're really crowded, but otherwise they're ok - they're glass! :D :D

Definitely VERY room...there should be no problems!!!
You don't want to sail one of the small, old ships like Viking Serenade, tho' (I think that one is out of service now). Definitely broom closet-sized rooms, even including the spa. Disney's staterooms are larger than even the ones on the newer ships like Voyager of the Seas.

which can build to an anxiety attack, if not managed.

When I was on the Wonder the "open concept" made me feel very much at ease and it was not an issue. The spaciousness of the public areas is wonderful. Mind you I always took the stairs (all the better to wear off dinner I convinced myself!) instead of the elevators!

Can't remember if it was during a facial or a seaweed wrap that the technician wanted to make sure I felt comfortable and not claustrophobic - I wasn't, but it was very considerate (they ask you on the spa forms about any dispositions like claustrophobia).

We liked it so much we're headed on the March 30 Magic! But, just in case I always pack my trusty medication and practice some cognitive therapy - if needed.

We were on the QE2 from Southampton to NY...and there were times I felt uncomfortable there...

Hope this helps!
