Why is there a claustraphobia warning on Spiderman and the Simpsons?

I have a daugher who will not ride in an elevator! :confused3

I just don't want to freak her out!

Not sure why there is a warning tbh. Maybe because some ppl might consider the car small and your strapped into it. I wouldnt think it would be a problem. If she rides in a car this is not much different it just has a lap bar in place of a seat belt. Its open so its not too confined and a big screen in front of you.

I think the reason is the fact the ride vehicles are "enclosed" meaning the sides come down on both Spiderman and The Simpsons...which might make some people a little nervous. Both are great rides and should not be missed.

Ican see were some ppl with that condition would have a problem. We were on BTTF 4years ago and a elderly women was very nervous just being in the holding area,(the room before you enter the ride is only 10by10).Well I tried too strike a conver with her to calm her down.It worked for alittle while. She was calm when we got on the ride, till the doors came down. After that theyre was no talking only screaming.I tried to tell her it will be over soon, just close your eyes, it will be over before you know it..
After the ride she was very ill.My Dw got a park employee. After that we didnn't know what happend to her.I hope she came through allwright.
With that I hope ppl know there limits:cloud9: Donn't doit if you cann't handle it!!

Is there a similar type holding room for the Simpsons? She might not like that at all! :confused3

Yes. It's the same room, just newly themed. As the earlier poster mentioned, the room is about 10' x 10' and if you're going to have a full car there will be eight people standing in the room waiting to board.

This is an enclosed room? How long do you stay in this room?

There are things to look at on the walls and you watch the TV pre-show but it is enclosed and there are no windows. I'd say you're in the room for about 4-5 minutes to the best of my recollection.

If you are staying onsite and doing express, it there still the holding room? We rode MIB a few years ago and she did ok in the "holding room" there which was only for a few seconds or so.

Yes...it's part of the show.

Didnt even know there is one on MIB. But yes I believe you have to be in the room its right before you enter the ride. 4 to 5 minutes sounds accurate to me. Its not too bad only 8 ppl in room its not crowded imo but I dont rly know how bad it is for someone claustrophobic. There isnt much downtime it goes into the video pretty much right after you enter the room and when the video is over the doors open and you get in the car.

Is there a similar holding room for spiderman?

Thanks

I am almost certain there is not one for Spiderman. Their lines seem kinda tight though. I am not sure how severe her claustrophobia is. A few of the rides at IOA are indoor lines with not much room to move around and with ppl in line it doesnt always move often.

The lines do not bother her....just small enclosed rooms....like elevators.

5 minutes in a room with NO visible exit! :scared: She would freak!

I havent used Express for Spiderman. But I do not think the regular line has a room at all I am going Fri I will know for sure then. Also there are 2 Visible exits in the room for the Simpsons. You just dont use it till the door swings open.

There is no holding room at Spiderman. I'm certain that the claustrophobia warnings for Spiderman are because of the car. There are three rows of four in each car which you walk into. After all twelve people are in the car, the car closes off on the right side (it's already closed off on the left when you walk into the car). That's the only reason why there would be a warning.

The same thing happens with the ride vehicle on The Simpsons ride. After you walk into the car, the sides come down to enclose the vehicle.

Definitely avoid Simpson's then. My friend got a little freaked out because it was kind of hot in there and we were with some big, smelly strangers. :faint: We were definitely ready for the doors to open to let us board the cars, and then I got lucky enough to sit next to the big, sweaty guy who promptly spread out into about half of my seat! In turn, I was half on top of my friend trying to escape him.
