Classical Music Fans?

I got my undergrad in music also. Vocal performance with a minor in piano. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 95, and did the Aspen Music Festival in 97. Now I'm a stay at home mom of two, but I hope to get back into performing and teaching privately once my boys are a little older.

We try to get up to Ravinia in the summer to see my favs... love Renee Fleming. We've seen the CSO several times, and also been to the Lyric a few times. I miss being able to see a concert every night... in college my boyfriend at the time was a violin major so I always went to concerts, and of course at Aspen we went every night as well. You get spoiled and then really miss it when it's gone.

I have no musical background, but I really enjoy classical music. DH is the real connoisseur though. We went to the opera several years ago, I believe it was Mozart's Idomeneo (his first opera, I think).

My favorite composers are Mozart and Vivaldi. The other night DH said, "I wonder what Aaron Copland would think if he knew his music is used to advertise beef".

Yeah, and I always laugh when I hear the Verdi Requiem on my son's Harry Potter computer game.

And poor Bizet.... he's been on every commercial you can think of!
