Have you ever attended a class reunion? I've never been to any of mine and I'm wondering how many people have attended theirs. :D

All but one (and we just had our 25th a couple of years ago).
Our class was very small and very close. I enjoy them very much!

Oh, man. The other week I got a letter about my 20 year high school reunion.

I haven't attended one, mainly because there hasn't been one to attend. I heard one of my classmates was working on a 15 year, but it fell through after she became seriously ill (and unfortunately she passed away last year :( )

I probably won't attend. I'm already planning on going back home to visit my mother for her 70th birthday less than a month later and I doubt I can swing two trips back in that short of a time.

I should have a 10 year reunion this summer. I don't know when it is yet, but since I'm expecting a baby in August, I doubt I'll be able to make it. I went to school in Texas, and I just don't feel like leaving the state when my stomach is the size of a watermellon. I would have liked to have gone, though.

There have been 3 that I've made excuses to get out of going to.;) I've never been to one, probably never will go to one.

Ive been to my 5th and 10th and had a great time at both. Our 5th was a booze cruise out of Boston Harbor and our 10th was a little more refined at a nice hotel. Of course I was 7 months pregnant for that one. ;) Im hoping we have a 15th which would be this year but I just heard our class president who plans these now has a 2 1/2 yo and 6 month old twins, so I think she may be a little too busy to plan a reunion right now. ;)

We went to Marie's 20th, I think it was. It was fun, even for me, seeing the interaction, listening to the comversations.

Quite frankly my class was a bunch of loser and our reunion track record shows that! We had a "6" year reunion because no one got it together in time for a 5 year. I didn't attend but had a few reports that fun was had. THat was it. My 20 year would have been two years ago and I had sent an email through classmates.com to someone who claimed they were organizing it, but I never heard another thing. My parents still live where I grew up, so if there was something being planned I'm sure I would have heard.

I have given some thought to trying to organize a 25th in 2007, but there was never any love lost between me and most of my classmates. I could certainly live my life and not ever see most of them again with NO PROBLEM. But I guess the chance to show off my great life (no sarcasm intended) is pretty strong. I have a great husband, two beautiful kids, a lovely home. I have the luxury of being a SAHM. Anyhow, maybe someone else will organize the 25th, who knows! ...............P

We went to our 5 year and have plans to go to our 10 year this summer.

Question for those who don't go - why not? I'm just curious, was highschool not a good experience for you? I noticed for some it has to do with distance. Just wondering.

That is exactly why I went to my 10 year reunion. I was never the popular kid although they knew me since we had classes together. I did not complete college, so I was a bit hesitant on describing my job, but I loved it even though it was rather low level. My family came first and hopping from place to place puts a strain on achieving a degree (DH is military). However, I had no failed marriage and I was no longer the poor kid among rich. It was a pleasure to see all the kids who hid behind their PARENTS social status in high school, suddenly out on their own struggling just as everyone else does. A few docs and lawyers, but for the most part, they worked in retail or SAHM (which there is no disgrace in that!). Here I was worrying about how my job looked and there were people who were not working at all! I was pleasantly surprised that we were one big family. It was nothing like high school. It was closure for me. Gotta admit, whomever planned it, did not do the best job. The food was not good and the DJ did not have a very good selection of music. GLad we did not depend on that for the atmosphere. I am looking forward to the next reunion. How many people can say they live in Italy (that is where I am moving)? :teeth:

I went to my ten year. On Long Island, that's typically what the schools start with. My ex's and mine were both scheduled for the same weekend at the same hotel (Friday and Saturday). I paid for both, then two weeks later, we split.

It was pretty good...most of my friends from school weren't in my class, and the friends that were didn't go. Still, I enjoyed it.

If my twentieth wasn't scheduled for when I'm moving to Florida, I'd probably go to that one. Have a feeling I'll be waiting until the 25th to go back.

I went to my 10 year reunion but I'll never go to another one. It seemed like a lot of money for nothing. I think we paid $90 per couple and all we got out of it was a bad dinner. The friends that I had in hs are still my friends. We all decided the next time reunion time comes around we'll plan our own gathering and have more fun.

DH and I are local, so have been to several of ours since graduations in '54 & '64. Some have been better than others, but feel it makes for an enjoyable evening reminising old times.
The classmates who have remained friends over the yrs., we've kept in close contact.

This year will be really special! It is DH's 50th annv. since HS graduation. It is going to be a BIG deal w/dinner, his class marching with the Class of 2004 in cap & gown and being presented awards. We are really looking forward to it!

As you get older you 'count your blessings' if you are able to attend ...LOL!

My 20th is supposed to be this summer. I've asked the old class pres. if he needed help (he said no). But so far we've seen nothing happening. I think it will be a complete flop.

My DH's was last year. We had a great time. It was very informal - a day of golf and then dinner. His class was pretty small - like 60 graduated. About 40 actually showed up - which I thought was a good turn out. Considering they waited until about 3 weeks prior to invite everyone

I went to my 10th reunion back in Oklahoma in 1999. It was fun to see everyone and meet back up with some old friends. The organizers didn't do a very good job of planning activities, though.

All of the girls were great and had really outgrown the clique-y thing. But 3 or 4 of the guys were bigger jerks than ever. The event was held at the local country club - the old turf for the jerks. They were zooming around in their golf carts trying to look "cool" before the reunion events started . It was really quite sad to see grown men acting so immaturely.

I haven't heard anything about a 15th reunion this year. Unfortunately our class president (and official planner) is one of the guys who was still a jerk at the 10th reunion, so I'm probably not going to call and ask him about it. I'll wait for the 20th.

I have to add that the individuals planning my DH's reunion called us about 3 weeks prior to the event to let us know. We happen to run into some other class mates of his about a week later that were never notified!

Unfortunately I think it was a combination of those in charge not being over the whole clique-y and they chose to exclude a certain race. My DH cured that by calling all of his friends that he could think of. He has never been one to let race/color determine who his friends are.:teeth:
