Class Act In Toronto

On Saturday night Maple Leafs fans loudly cheered during the playing of the U.S. national anthem.

Montreal hockey fans voiced their displeasure over the war in Iraq by booing the U.S. anthem last Thursday.

What is frustrating is that while the previous story was all over the place, this positive one passed virtually unnoticed.


Though the Stars have lots of ties to the Habs, I think I might start pulling for the Leafs.

Didn't want to toot our own horn. There's enough of that going around.

Even last year after the Islanders fans booed, the Leafs fans remained polite. Usually, we Canadians are criticized for being too polite. Nice that someone noticed!

Glad to hear this good news. I don't like how we're always quick to hear Americans boo-ing Canadians for whatever sport or Canadians boo-ing Americans for whatever sport. Nice to hear something positive for a change! Thank you!

I heard about it on a sports station & looked it up & they just had a small blurb about it on the Yahoo NHL archives.

I think the media is so focused on bringing the negative, it is pathetic! They keep showing anti war demonstrations, but rarely show the rallies in support. They continually discuss the nations that are against us, how about a list of the nations that support millitary action??? You never hear the positive.

Sadly, the positive stories don't make for good news. Thanks to all the Leafs fans out there and to Canadians everywhere supporting the effort in the Gulf.
