I spent last night at the Clarion Maingate and thought I would post since I don't see this one often.

The hotel is on 192 at marker 5. Very easy commute to Disney (you can take the shortcut on Sherbeth road behind the hotel to make it even faster, dumps you out at the AK.) There are lots of resturants in an easy walk and they have free transport to Disney.

My room is your basic hotel. Two beds (They look like doubles to me!), TV etc... Carpet is green and looks to be a few years old. Hotel is quite and beds are comfortable. Hotel is 5 stories and has interior corridors. There is a safe in the closet, but no key. The bathroom has a hairdryer and a coffee pot (coffee pot looks gurngy to me!) Also, the bath area has had plumbing work and the fixed tile in the tub area is a little sloopy. According to the info in my room they have "upgrade rooms" with mini-fridges, microwaves and sleeper sofas.

There is a breakfast buffet that they push hard, they even put a flyer under my door.

All in all, just ok. However, I paid $25 for this on priceline so I can't complain!

HI-
we stayed at that hotel in june 2003, and are planning on staying there again in january 2005. I hope to get a good rate - but i am too afraid to use priceline and end with a differnt hotel:confused:
anyways we enjoyed that hotel.....and really loved that McDonalds was just a few steps away. - we have 2 little ones . the mini mart across the street was very nice, i even had won 25$ on a lottery ticket out first night :)
we rented a van last time we were there so we could drive to the disney property, and thinking about doing the same thing next year-

thanks for reviewing this hotel- i also have not seen very many psots about it

I would recommend the van.

I saw the bus..... it looked really old and run down. I kept thinking about the posts that Tyler made on the Transportation board about some of the off site buses not being well maintained and this one looked like it fit the bill.

DH and I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last month (3 days during the Veteran's Day weekend, Pricelined for $30.00, and this past Thurs-Fri-Sat, Pricelined for $26.00).

The hotel is older but very clean, safe, and quiet, with friendly, helpful staff. There's a cute pool and there's a sundeck with tables/chairs and loungechairs overlooking a nicely landscaped pond.

The breakfast buffet is pretty good and reasonably priced--we ate breakfast there twice this past weekend and once at Denny's, which is right next door.

With all the money we saved on the hotel, we did two sitdown meals at Disney, one at the Rainforest Cafe and one at a pretty nondescript (decor AND food) early-American style restaurant in the Magic Kingdom (so nondescript that I don't remember the name of it!).

I didn't look at the Disney buses, since we drove our own car. I don't think I would want to take any offsite transportation--would not want to feel stranded by the infrequent scheduling of buses.
