Clarify Online/Early Check-In

Is this necessary? Is there any benefit? Just want to know if I should do this or not as we check in on May 20th. Looking for advise..... :0)

It is not "necessary" but has the potential to speed up check in and helps if you have specific requests.

Back a few years, there was a separate line for folks who had done early check-in so you could get on to your site.

It's been messed up here recently like allowing you to choose to be near the stairs or on the ground level...

If you pay your reservation in full before you arrive and use the early check in option fully, they can text you your campsite number when its ready for you. Since you will have your magic bands with you, once you get the text, the magic bands will work to let you in the gate (even the automated gate by the overflow lot) so you can drive in and go straight down to your site and set up - and thus bypass all checkin activities.

If you want a welcome package, you might want to stop at either the checkin lanes or the office. Or come back later to get one.

If you got a site number but want to negotiate for a different site, you can stop and go in or drive thru.

I usually stop and try to negotiate a site I want.

And to some folks, talking to the CM checking you in when they greet you with "Welcome Home", that's part of the experience some don't want to miss.

But if you do the early checkin, prepay in full, and are happy/indifferent with the site number you are texted, you can drive straight in.

I have never done the online/early check in and really can't see any advantages for us. We almost always arrive on Tues. about 10AM and are checked in (no lines) within minutes. All but once we were able to go direct to our site. We just spent 10 nights in site 119 with no problems.

We like to check in personally to make sure we get the 100 loop early in the day when later it might get filled. Others may have different experiences with this, but this is what works for us.

We usually arrive early enough in the day to avoid lines and are not (generally) too fussy about the site that we want/get. As long as we fit (and by Fit, I mean the ability to GET INTO the site is included. Some angles are just too tough for the long truck/trailer combo).

Come on, I got my TT and Truck in to that site in the 100 loop, She got some wide hips and is long, but we made it just fine. But like camping everywhere, you just never know what you will encounter.

Hey.... I am willing to "Shoe Horn" it in anywhere. The DW, though... she stresses it. She would prefer it if I could just pull up..... a quick "Back Up" and unhook. Alas.... I am good but not THAT good. (I usually have to "Jockey" it a bit). She would prefer it even more if they were "Pull Through" sites.

Our first stay at the fort was a challenge. It was in the 300 Loop. We pulled in in the dark and there were vehicles parked on the edge of the road way making it even harder. Oh well... Whatever.... As long as we get there alive, that's what counts, right?
