If one owns at two resorts, can you book 11 months in advance at both resorts?

For example, say I needed 160 points to book a stay at AKV or at BCV ,but I have 80 at AKV and 80 points at BCV. Would i be able to book 11-months in advance for either AKV or BCV?

The 11 month window applies only to points that you own at the particular home resort. You could reserve BCV with 80 points at 11 months but would have to wait until 7 month window to reserve additional time at BCV with AKV points.

No, you only have 11 month booking access at your home resort with home resort points. It is why we have two full contracts of 230 and 150 points at the same resort. We wanted to be able to use all of them at the 11 month window. That being said, you CAN choose to move in the middle of a trip, or book 11 months as if you are changing mid trip, and then at the 7 month mark try to move the second part of the stay to the other resort. If it isn't available, you can always waitlist, and in most cases that will come through if you do it right at 7 months. It does depend a bit on the resorts involved. For example: a waitlist for BCV studio during F&W might be more difficult than a 2 bedroom at SSR or OKW.

The above answers are correct. I would also add that one can bank or borrow points as necessary to get to the 160 required for your vacation.

Thanks - so if I was hoping to get 4 nights at BCV for exampe, basically I could book say two nights at BCV using my 80 points (just an example) at 11-months out, and then hope that at the 7-month mark I can use the AKV points to get an additional two nights. If they were available - would they ensure I stayed in the same villa for entire 4-night stay?

If it were me, I would just borrow 80 BCV points, and make the entire 160 point reservation at BCV 11 months out. Then bank the AKV points for use in the next UY.

If available and you can reserve at 7 months , they will link the two reservations essentially turning them into one for the purpose of check-in and having one room for the entire time. Just make sure you ask to have that done when you reserve the remaining time at 7 months out.

I do agree with DVC John and Wilderness Dad that borrowing and banking make sense here as well, but I also know that with smaller contracts, even that is not going to be enough points for 1 continuous stay, depending on the size and length of time. We have a small AKV contract, and have used 2 and a half years worth of points for our first stay there next March. We have considered trying to use some of our OKW points for the next visit, and thus will be booking that stay at OKW and trying to switch to AKV at the 7 month window.

I have 150 points at VWL and will need 314 for a week in a 2BR. If I borrow 150, that still leaves me 14 points short. If I reserve 6 nights at 11 months (for which I'll have enough points) and book the 7th night as cash, can I change the cash night to points (if available) when I get my new allotment? Also, are the rates from DVC the same as CRO rates before the 25% member discount, or is there a different DVC nightly rate?

Not really. Basically you'd have to cancel your cash reservation, and then make a new reservation, which would be subject to availability.

You cannot directly convert a cash reservation to a points reservation. If one could do that, it essentially would be a loophole to get around the 11-month booking window.

That's okay--as long as I can "indirectly" convert it, subject to availability. I was debating booking Sunday-Thursday at 11 months, then trying to add the weekend when I get my points (which will be at 9 months) or going ahead and at least securing 6 nights. I'd sure hate to move for one night though

Are there going to be any points to bank? Then you can borrow and start the reservation with 300 points plus if you have any to bank. You can also except a transfer from a member, you are allowed one per Use Year. This is in or out.

I'll be getting 150 points 8/1/08, which I'll bank, then when I book at 11 months for May 2010, I'll borrow the 2009 points. I'll still be 14 points short and will definitely try to find someone to transfer the points, but I was just trying to find out what my options were if that doesn't work out :goodvibes

I'm not quite following.
It looks like you have an August UY, are planning a May 2010 vacation, and are planning to bank all your 2008 points. Since May 2010 falls in your August 2009 UY, you don't have to borrow those.

So, for that reservation, you'll be using 150 banked 2008 points, 150 2009 points, and then you'd just have to borrow 14 2010 points.

You're correct -- August UY, banking 150 2008 points, May 2010 trip. Let me be sure I understand. Although I would be booking the trip in June 2009 (before I actually have the 2009 points), as long as the reservation falls within my 2009 UY, I don't have to borrow the 2009 points?

You are correct! They will use the 2009 points. You do not have to borrow them at the time of the reservation.
