Has anyone done the Cape May Clambake?
What are your thoughts? Thumbs up/down/indifferent?
Other ideas/suggestions?
We just added a day to our tickets and need another dinner.
We are not doing a park this day, so I need something at a resort.

Thanks.

We love it, and are going back in August. We too needed a meal outside a park, and Cape May has stuff for everybody.
From our last visit I remember the awesome brocoli slaw, yummy red skin mashed potatoes, fish, clams were so good, I even liked the chowder and I am NOT a soup person at all.
My mom who hates fish still found a ton to choose from there, she liked the ribs the best. Desserts were yummy too.
And you can draw on the tablecloth ! Seriously, what more can we ask for :)

LOVE IT!! it's fun, the food is great and plentiful, and the desserts.....FANTASTIC ! You'll enjoy it... like the PP said, there's something for everyone. We've got ADR's there in Sept on our DS day. It's just a short walk or boat ride from DS. I highly recommend it ! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We have done the Cape May Clambake 3 times now... '04, '06, '08...

We have all been fine with the meal...but IMHO...it's not a "Destination" meal...meaning... I wouldn't have come from another area/resort/park to eat there...

We were staying at BC...and Cape May was convenient...everyone got something good to eat...and we got our (Disney) money's worth.....

albeit ...this was before AYCE Crab legs....but wouldn't make a difference....

I do believe there are other "Destination" options... (like 'Ohana)....that would be 'worth the trip"...

Hugs,
Mary

my whole family loves cape may. i love the clams they are so good. i had 56 clams. also the mussels are pretty good and so is the corn bread. the pasta is good and the ribs. i havent been since they added the crab legs but i am looking forward to it in a couple of weeks.my mom is not a big seafood fan and she loves cape may. this place is amazing.

You will get quite a variety of views on Cape May Cafe.
We love it. The clams are delicious and just the perfect size for my preference. The clam meat is about the size of the end of your little finger. On our last visit(May,'10) the crablegs were included and were good. We have never had a bad meal there in about 10 visits over the years.
You will find that many people from New England or other coastal regions (No flames please) do not consider this an acceptable "clambake". Some complaints I've read are that the clams are too small, it doesn't have lobster, etc..... And truely, it may not fit the typical genre of "Clam Bake". But we(me, Dh, DS, DD) "in-landers" enjoy it very much.

The "seafood" included is: small steamed clams, mussels, crab legs and either either baked or battered deep fried fish, also a variety of salads, small peal & eat shrimp, vegetables, potatoes, chicken dish(s), ribs, beef dish(es), delicious corn bread, 2 soup choices and a nice variety of mini dessert from which to choose.

The price in mid May 2010 was $31.99 per person.

It is a buffett. The food is good and would do it again. However if you are looking for a real new england clambake This Is Not It. Bufetts are a good choice for us. DD was 12 last time in 2008. DS's were 19 and 21. They brought a friend along who was also 19. Three guys that age, they eat alot. They more then made up for DD birdlike appetite.

This was a good option for us. My BFF loves shellfish and I'm allergic to it. A little cross-contaminatoin won't kill me, but eating a significant amount could!

That said, we both found food we enjoyed. I can and do eat fish, and they had two types when we were there--some type of white fish and salmon, plus a number of other non-shellfish dishes. Neither of us had to worry about leaving hungry! *LOL*

We are from New England and we all like Cape May. BUT...none of us eat clams.:rotfl:

I haven't been since 2008 but we enjoyed it. I like it better than OHana-more variety.
