How is the clam bake at Cape May?
It always smells so good and I want to try it.
So any comments?

We really wanted to like it when we went in January. Alas, it was not meant to be. Meally shrimp, rubbery mussels tough beef and just plain not what it is cracked up to be. We went early--like 6 pm thinking it would we fresh. Wrong. They did have some good desserts though. Definately not worth a second try.

We were there in September and loved it. Food was very good and there was plenty for picky, young eaters to choose from.

It's okay if you're in the neighbohood (e.g. at the BC or YC and need dinner) but not worth a special trip from anywhere. The "clam bake" part of the buffet was the weakest part...funny tasting mussels, most of the clam shells were empty, the shrimp was WAY over cooked. The other fish was a Long John Silvers type of fried fish.

The clam chowder was good. The non-seafood part of the buffet was much better than the seafood part. The dessert buffet was great...the oreo bon bons lived up to the hype.

We always make the Clam Bake a "must do" on our trips. What I like is the way they have the seafood on one side and meats on the other. I find their selections very good and have always enjoyed our meals.

That was our experience as well. We should have known better; the prices are in line with other Disney dinners, a little less expensive than some, so combine that with AYCE and seafood and you're bound to get inferior quality.

We went in October and thought it was great. My expectations weren't very high since I'd read some so-so reviews on this board and we were pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. We'll definitely go back.

I have been twice and really enjoyed it... My kids ate more there than anyplace on the trip, even my 2 pickier eaters

We thought it was pretty good. I would do it again.

Its a buffet...not fine dining. We enjoy it and go back every year.

This was our favorite meal of our trip last year (4 adults). Theere were four "Seafood" items if I recall correctly, all steamed (nothing was fried). There were plenty of additional choices (chicken, beef, rolls, salads, etc.) The desserts were fantastic and the service was excellent as well.

We would definitely do this meal again.

This is one of our favorite meals & a must do for us every trip. I love it & I don't eat seafood - there is still a lot of great food to pick from there. :)

We dined here with another couple in May & they loved it & have gone back since then (they live in FL, now!) We also took my parents here back in January & this was my Dad's favorite meal out of the several we all had together.

My MIL & family had a bad experience here about 2 years ago, but have gone back since & not had any more problems. I think all restaurants have good days & bad, luckily we've only caught this one on the good days.

Go & enjoy!! :teeth:

We did it once years ago and were disappointed as well......some of us live in New England and know what a real clambake is and what it should taste like... I think this one falls short, of course this is my opinion and I am sure others will say it is great..

We ate there last Jan. the food was very good the night we were there, were planning on going back this Jan. I hope its as good.

Well, I live in New England (on the ocean, with a boat, and lobster traps, etc...) and I thought the clambake was awesome! I had two helpings of mussels, and 3 bowls of clams. I love the ones in the sauce! We had great service from our waitress, lots of fresh food, and a fun, fun time. It was the best meal of our trip.

We go every year before watching Ilumminations and we love it. My DD likes to get the bucket-o-crab legs but that is extra. No complaints on the food, we really enjoy it. But I love the Oreo bon-bons

Thanks guys, I guess its either a hit or miss.
But I'm really going to think about going now.

We were there in Sept. My only regret is that I only got to eat there once. Food and service was great. Thoght the ribs were better than whispering canyons.
