Not all perks apply for everyone in the stateroom. Gold and Platinum get a small shopping discount (I think 10%) and this is only applied to purchases made with the KTTW card of the Gold CC member, not for everyone in the cabin. But booking window opens at the same time and that is the most important one.

You aren't Silver until after you complete your first cruise. So you would be Silver on cruises 2-5, followed by Gold 6-10 and then Platinum after that.

Perhaps they changed it, but I found my CC number on our very first KTTWC in November 2013.

Correct, it is on your KTTW card. However, Silver status doesn't actually take effect until you have completed that first cruise.

Absolutely, but I guess the logic DCL places in that is that once you get that KTTWC at the terminal you are already checked in and it is doubtful that you would NOT complete that first cruise.

On your first cruise you do have your CC number on your KTTW, but you can't use the Castaway Cay check in line, and you don't get the in room gift.

I think the CC number is just the number that Disney assigns to every individual cruiser as soon as they book in their own database to avoid duplication of profiles. Only after your first cruise, when you become a member of the CC it actually gets some meaning outside the internal DCL database.
