Claiming a Hammock on Castaway Cay?

I don't like the hammocks at all, but my husband and son do. They will share one between them and then leave them for the next person.

I have never seen people put towels or stuff on them for the day though. That is not nice at all.

We started our day early running the 5K and then transitioned directly to snorkeling using gear we brought from home. The family beach was largely empty as it was still quite early. While my husband sorted the gear I enjoyed a few minutes in the nearby hammock. When we returned from our time in the water very few hammocks were occupied but every hammock lacking humans was covered with someone's stuff. This struck me as "not very neighborly ..."

Both cruises we've had people sit on the chairs we drug down the water in front of our loungers (even though there are plenty unclaimed). I guess we will start having to leave a towel on them or something lol

Last time I was at CC I remember towards the end of the day when it became quieter, a family with several small children stopped by one of the hammocks and were playing in it. One of the kids wanted to climb into the one next to it and the parents loudly said that they couldn't because someone clearly didn't care about other guests and had left their stuff in it.

We had Cabana 24 on SB. I thought the hammock was a little low, thus making it difficult to get out of.

I have not dealt with this but if I wanted it and no one came for a bit, I am the type to physically move the stuff. Usually people show up all tough and confrontational and then get the shock of their life when I respond. I have noticed some adults have an entitled attitude and are shocked when I don't let that fly in my world.

How would anyone know the chairs belonged to you if you were not in them? If I see an empty chair, I assume it is open for anyone.

Just the obvious thing that the available chairs are sitting back with their loungers and the others are moved out to the water. Didn't say I was upset about it, just always funny.

We were at SB last year, and after seeing a pair of "claimed" hammocks go unused for over an hour, I moved the stuff from one to the other (they had matching towel clips) and utilized the hammock. Within 5 mins the people were back (watching maybe?) and grumbling under their breath that only one of them was able to use the hammock. I just continued to read my book and soak up the sun.
