CK Convention question

Has anyone gone to one of these? Is it worth my time and money to stay in a hotel to attend? There is one that is about 3 hours away from me, but I am considering going. Then I thought, wait, I just KNOW there has to have been a DISer that has been to one. Maybe they can tell me if it is worth it?

hey, we went to the one in valley forge and it was fun. if you are going to take classes, the sei ones are good. I also enjoyed the basic grey classes (2 peas has a bunch of reviews). the shopping was very crowded since they really didn't give the vendors enough space. I'd go again. maggie

I went to the CK convention in Valley Forge, PA in July. While I liked it, and would go again, it wasn't what I expected. I took 8 classes and was disappointed in 4 of them - they were too basic (even though they were supposed to be advanced classes) and we didn't work on anything in class. They gave us kits and basically said we would have to finish them on our own. The classes really aren't to teach techniques (which is what I was expecting). It was fun to see new products and to do some things I normally would not do (mini albums are huge right now). The vendors fair was good but I really didn't see much that I couldn't buy at home. That did not keep me from buying, just not as much . My favorite classes were the one on scanning and using Adobe photoshop to do digital pages (which I've never done).

I did one crop and it was fun (I didn't win anything even though they gave a ton of stuff away).

If I go next year (and I will try) I will take less classes (and only by mfg) and probably do more make and takes at the vendor fair.

Thanks for the reviews. It helps me! I was thinking they would teach new techniques as well.
