OK - I decided that I want to put the ribbon in my CJ before I sent it out instead of waiting. But in looking over other CJs at 2Peas and reading a comment PattyT made (something about the pages not turning too well because the ribbon was too wide??) - well, now I'm not sure how to do it. :confused3

I think I decided against putting the ribbons right on the spiral itself because I don't like the look of that white strip showing around the holes. (cover is white) The CJs that I really liked had a lot of ribbon through the holes...does that just cover up the un-embellished cover? Even if you tie the ribbon loosely enough to turn the pages?

Or do you tie the ribbon fairly snug and just add ribbon into the binding to "fill it out"??

HELP!!!

Yes, I'm obsessing.

Thanks Maggie! :teeth:

You know, wish one of you lived near me so that you could come to my house & rip this stinking CJ out of my hands & put it in the mail! I'm beginning to think that's the only way it will ever get mailed! :rotfl:

I am LMAO reading this as I am "Very" attached to my CJ and I am going to miss it....just finishing up my pages......sniff, sniff :guilty: :guilty: - I am really sorry to see you go.... :lovestruc  :sad2:

In CJ1, that's what at least 1 person did (using maggie's ring thingie idea.)

Just remember. The joy of receiving the next person's cj makes giving yours up ok. I've been in awe of all 3 that I have received. It will be worth it!

Ummmm  I think you misunderstood me. :confused3

It's not that I'm so in love with my CJ...I just can't make a final decision and actually glue/paste things down! If someone showed up here they could just rip it out of my hands, make a choice between the 4 or 5 different options for each page, stick them down & toss the whole thing in the mail! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

ok so what is this circle journal about? mabye we can help you through cyber space. maggie

Okay Deb.....just stand up, twirl around a couple of times, place your hand down on your papers, then Bingo! You've got a winner!

oh, i wish i had thought of the circle binder thingies. that would be awesome. i took off the covers and did them, repunched the holes, then put it back together. i would've left it unbound and just put the whole thing together after i got it back, but i already tied 66 ribbons to the spine!!! oh well, i'll know what to do for the next one now!!!

OK, let's try again.

I like the one over there.

No... Not that one, the one to the left.

Now up.

Yeah, that one. Goe with that!

:rotfl: What a great group of friends I have here! :teeth: You're all just what I needed! ::yes::

Maggie, the theme is "My Favorite WDW Ride/s" (or attraction/s). My big problems have been deciding on:
which papers to use?
how to attach the pocket for the sign-in tags?
where to put the ribbon on the spine?
how to make my cover not so boring?

:rotfl: I thought if I just put stuff together without attaching it I could wait until the last minute to make a decision. Unfortunately, every time I "slept on it" I'd wake up in the morning not at all happy with what I already had & start again! :rotfl:

I'm so pathetic! :rotfl2:

Not that this is much help, but since I'm several hours drive away from you, I thought I'd offer this. With my first CJ I put the pocket on with adhesive. It probably won't last through the whole year. With my next one (the one I just finsished) I machine-stitched the pocket on, and I'm much happier with that one.

Want me to run my sewing machine on over for ya?

Oh that's right! I was going to try the stitching it on thing! Mikes has that little paper sewing machine on sale this week for $5! I was going to get one when I went to use my JoAnns coupon this weekend.

Of course that was supposed to be my "reward" for finishing this silly thing! But I need it to finish...sometimes I'm so brain dead it's scary! :rotfl2:

Now I just need to stop running over to the computer to avoid working on it & I should finish before bed time! ::yes::

Ded - I hope we don't have to give you a DIS time out (or would that be a timed out error) so that you get you cj done. Insert scolding face here.

You just get to work young lady. I'm not a mom, but playing one here. Is it working??? :rotfl:

sweet maxine....

sewing the pocket pages on is an awesome idea!!! i may try something like that.

It is really so easy to sew the pockets on. I just have to remember to do it before I mount the pages in my book. I think that's why I didn't do it on my first one. I love the way it looks.

Deb, I think you're just sweating over it like I did with my first one. I decided this time to just have fun with it, and whatever happens, happens--KWIM? I think once you just let go, you're creative juices with start to flow, and you'll be done in no time. Stop stressing!!!!

I used binder rings on my cj for the mailing (like maggie's) When the journal is complete next June I'll probably swap it out and put a ribbon binding on. The nice thing about the binder ring is that its easy the pull the pages you are working on out so you son't damage the pages that are already done

I used ribbon instead of the spiral, but I used thin ribbons and fibers and tied them very loosely so that the pages turn easily. But, on thinking about it, they turn easily now, but maybe when everyone gets their pages done they won't. I guess time will tell. I too find the worst part of doing these journals is deciding what papers to use. For the book I am using now I have about 7 different pages lying next to it!
