Hello All,

Nearly time now, 2 weeks from now we should just be getting to the Parks, really can’t wait.

Anyway, as we’re going to be there for the best part of 6 days my Mum and Sister-in-Law have decided that they will probably suffer Disney overload (infidels!) so they’re going to leave the 4 lads with me and my Brother and head of into Paris for the day.

Personally I will admit to being a complete cultural desert and look at it as a wasted day I could have spent in the parks, but hey each to their own!!!!

Now as I’ve organised everything I’ve also been left to sort this as well. My Mum isn’t the most cosmopolitan of people so I’m a bit worried about her running around Paris on her own.

I’ve explained to her it won’t be like the Costa del Brit when everyone speaks English, so I was wondering if anyone has been on the ‘Cityrama’ tour and what they thought of it.

I’ve done a bit of reading in the Brit’s Guide and it does look like of time on the coach which mightn’t be great, can anyone help with more detail?

Thanks in advance
John.

We did it a couple of years ago, It is very much like a London bus tour. You pay for 24 hours and hop on & off when you want to and it goes past all the big sites. The commentry is in English via headphones.

All of the big attractions are a fair distance from each other so it is a good way around town.

We did the cityrama early April this year. I had read that it was all a bit rushed but found that we were on the bus for most of the morning and a boat in the afternoon. The itinary goes a bit like this,
09.15ish Bus picks up usually at HNY, we were picked up ay Newport Bay. Then off to Paris seeing all the major sites but not stopping to get off.
12.30ish Stopped at the Eiffel Tower to take some pics then back on the bus for some more sights
1.00ish Boat cruise down the Seine to Notre Dame where you get about an hour and half to see the cathedral and get something top eat.
2.30ish Catch the boat back to the Eiffel Tower, we were given a good couple of hours but turned out that we needed it as a strike had happened so all the previous days bookings had been moved to our day. Bit more sight seeing from the bus the back to HNY for about 6.30ish.
My feeling was that it was a lot of sitting and looking out of a window, my parents had never been into Paris and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it but feel now that I would like to see more of Paris so would imagine that a hop on/off bus would be better.
I also wouldn't worry too much with the language, we found a great little restuarant near Notre Dame and they all spoke better English than me and the croque monsiuer was great.
Now thinking about it wish we had put a trip report together, we went for 5 nights and had the best time. Dare I say it but DLP is getting very close to WDW not just in attractions but also atmosphere!

My DD & l went on the Cityrama Evening Tour of Paris when we were at DLRP in March this year, since we didn't want not to make use of one of our days DLP park tickets. We enjoyed the tour very much. All the main tourist sights were lit up.You got approx 25 mins off the bus at the Eiffel Tower, during the last five mins of which the lights flickered/flashed, they do this at the same time every night, it was beautiful to see, magical :wizard: The tour lasted approx 3 1/2 hrs. It departs from front of the Hotel New York.

It's never too late to consider doing a trippie :teeth: ;)

I may just do that, thinking about the trip whilst typing the post just brought it all back like it was yesterday. Looks like I'll have to watch the video again to get the days right, shame! :teeth:

Hi again,

Thanks for all the responses, that gives me a much better idea of the tour.

I'm going to have a chat to my Mum about it later, there is a bit to much coach but I'd rather her do that than wonder around Paris on her own.

Thanks again.

As an alternative, you could take the RER train from DLP to central Paris (takes approx. 50 minutes), then go on a hop-on hop-off bus tour of Paris.

There are two companies that offer the bus tours: L'Open Tour and Le Cars Rouges. Both have double-decker open buses.

We went on L'Open Tour and saw all of the major landmarks of Paris in one day. We received headphones and listened to a decent recorded narration in English. It was a good introduction for a first-timer visitor.

1. Is it difficult to move from Hotel Santa Fe to Hotel New York?
2. Is it difficult to get to the RER train station from Hotel Santa Fe?

I just want to let everyone know that this is our first trip to DLP and we only have three days and we want to spent two days at the parks and one in Paris.

The walk to HNY would take 5-10 minutes depending how quickly you walk.

The train station is beside the bus station where the shuttle buses drop you off so it is easily found :)
