If we went for a later dinner a couple of nights, would the kids, ages 12 and 14, be "out of place" like at Disney's Pleasure Island at night? Particularily at Margaritaville and the Nascar Cafe or should we do these for lunch during the day?
I too would be interested in this.........as universal shuts at 7pm midweek when we are visiting, 8pm at weekends, which ive heard is really busy, we are struggling to find stuff to do for our kids too!!
Maybe someone in the know can answer these q's for us
i would compare citywalk more to downtown disney than pleasure island. when i take my 12 year old cousin he always enjoys it. i think margaritaville and nascar are perfect places to take your children to dine at. if you go during the week day nights you wont have a problem with the older crowds but on the weekends its another story; busy, busy, busy! i dont know where your from but if you guys find yourself bored check out the cineplex. it is awesome! im from a small town and while we have nice theaters nothing here compares to that theater. also think about taking them to pointe orlando. it is a similar setup to citywalk/dtd and there is a huge arcade they would probably love called XS. everytime i go i have to stop by and drop a little cash, and there is an FAO shwarz located on the first floor of the center.
I will check out the restaurants you mentioned.......i have a link somewhere for the menus at universal etc.....will have a gander .....see if my kids will eat there! LOL
As for the cineplex, i am from the UK and im not sure if we have what you spoke about. How many screens does it have? We will be sure to have a look anyway.
The pointe orlando i had heard of in passing from somewhere (its amazing what sinks into your brains off these boards ) and also the FAO thingy.........thats the one with huge building blocks outside isnt it....massive toy shop that lets kids play with the stuff?? Please correct me if my thoughts are jumbled
The arcades sound as if my kids would love them and my wallet wouldnt! Suppose thats the general idea.
Thanks again for your help Hope you have fun kathy387
the cineplex is a 20 screen, two story building with comfy recliner type chairs and massive screens. it is heaven.
FAO is the store with the building blocks out front and is the same company from Big starring tom hanks.
the arcade uses points that are put onto cards for your kids to use. i usually do a $20 card and it can last me a hour or two and these games here are usually the latest and greatest.
yeah, actually its not too far from universal orlando. most people on this forum have probably driven along international dr. and not even realized what it was. its real close to the new convention center that is under construction.
Thanx for the responses you guys! This is our first time back to Universal in 8 years or so and it seems like it's grown so much! We will try Citywalk at night...
Disney dolphin2..I think my wallet would feel the same pain as yours, my kids LOVE arcade games! Have fun!
We have never been anywhere in Florida so i am still trying to decide which days are best to visit universal, which for IOA, when to eat at disney/universal, when to eat on i-drive etc and my head is just buzzing!!
There is just so much to fit in.....dont know where to put it all! LOL Oh and seaworld and wetnwild.....and a trip to see downtown orlando itself......and maybe a beach day?..........see my problem?!
kathy387 Hope you're a bit more organised than me...have a great time!
