We currently have a ADR for Citricos for next month. We do have the free dining and are using 2 dining credits each for dinner. In surfing these boards, it appears that the entree portions are not that large. Knowing that appetizers are not included, we are wondering if this dinner is actually worth the money. Using 2 dining credits plus and additional $50+ (3 people) is alot of money. Is Citricos really worth the money? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Any advice or input? Thanks!

We just ate there the end of September. My husband had the grouper and still is talking about it. I had the filet, a little burnt for my taste outside but inside was fabulous. The dessert was beautiful and the Service was greeat. There was a mix up with the printer and it took over a 1/2 an hour to get our desserts but it was because we were celebrating our 17th anniversary and they wanted to give us the printed banner thing. Now we did have the Delux dinning plan so we had appitizers. The crabcake was awesome. My husband never commented on the appitizer her had but goes on and on about the grouper. View was nice. Quite a few more kids than I would have thought and the check in girl was a snobby you know what for some reason. I actullay almost cancelled my reservations because of her and her upitty additude. Which started when she asked what resort we were staying at. But other than her the experience was really pretty nice.

We always go to Citricos when we head up to WDW. We were just there last month and with appetizers we were stuffed. The veal shank was a humungous portion. Actually, none of the entrees were that small. We normally do the appetizer/ entree/ desert thing, but easily could have done without, or split appetizers.

Your math as to using the 2TS credits + an additional $50 or so (depending on the appitizers and if you prefer wine or a cocktail with your meal) is why using 2TS credits on the basic Dining Plan is worthless for all the signatures, IMO. Not only are you spending an additional $50 or so OOP, but if you figure that each TS credit is worth roughly $35, you are really spending $70 on half a meal, per person, before counting the additional money, which unless you order the most expensive thing on the menu, holds no value.

As for if Citricos is worth paying for OOP... absolutely. When it comes to Signature restaurants, it ties the top of our list along with Flying Fish (this does not include V&A's, Shula's or bluezoo). We have a real late ADR there on Wednesday for after Wishes and are paying OOP. :thumbsup2

I could not say it any better than this.

The entrees are pretty good sized, its the apps that are on the small to very small side. Worth is all subjective. If you are talking dollars, then most of the entrees are probably around double than a 1 credit restaurant, which is why it is 2 TS credits. If you are talking about only getting one meal as opposed to 2 meals, then no that might not be worth it to you since you will need a meal another night. The entrees are very good and "worth" more than most 1 TS places.
We've done the deluxe plan, so using 2 TS wasn't an issue for us, now we have the TIW card, so it still saves $.

I can't advise you about the DDP matter--we never use that Plan.

But Citricos is an excellent restaurant and the portions--while not huge by any means--aren't much different in size than at any other Dsney Signature restaurant.

not neccesarily true. heres a sample of a order for ONE person:

  • Sautéed Shrimp Lemon, White Wine, Tomatoes, and Feta 14.00
  • Oak-grilled Filet of Beef Spanish Onions, Peppadew and Banana Peppers, Quattro Formaggi Potato Purée, and Glace de Viande 41.00
  • Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte with Vanilla Ice Cream and Handcrafted Belgium Couverture Chocolate Crown 11.00
  • plus included drink and taxes.

total roughly: $78.00
these are not the most expensive things on the menu, and you break about even, maybe saving 5 or so dollars.

so you aren't getting any extra value or paying more, you are basically breaking even.

It is absolutely worth the money. I had the Wagyu Carpaccio and the Grouper Paella and it was well worth it. The food, atmosphere, and service were top-notch and easily the very best on a trip where we enjoyed Cali Grill, Artist Point, Fultons, Brown Derby, and Flying Fish.

Citricos is our favorite Disney restaurant. We didn't find any of the appetizers or entrees to be small.

We always get the deluxe plan so using 2 credits was well worth it. If you have an extra credit to burn or wouldn't mind using a CS for an extra meal or oop, I say go for it. However only you can really make that decision.
