The Citibank Dividend card will have 5% cashback for purchases at, among other things, theme parks. Does anyone have any experience with purchasing tickets online from Disney and nothing whether or not the charge is considered a theme park? I thought I read something before as it coming up as a "resort" and people weren't getting credit.

Same question re: Undercover Tourist ticket purchases. Might those be characterized as theme parks, or are purchases from their something more generic like online merchandise or something.

While I do have a Citibank card I don't remember if it was that card or my Discover card that had a theme park 5%promo going. I think it was Discover. In my case, they did not count Undercover Tourist, they did not count the resort, they did not count any purchases made in the theme parks or in Downtown Disney. The only thing they counted was when I upgraded our tickets to 7 day from 6 day so we got credit for about $10 X 4 + $40. $40X .05 = $2. $2 = me :sad1:

I was a bit bummed because I thought I would get credit for all things on the property and the UT tickets too. I thought because WDW owned all that property that it would all count as a theme park purchase.

Not the end of the world but not the boost I was hoping for.

I don't know if that's how Citibank would also treat it... only theme park tickets sold directly by Disney... possibly even bought at the theme park ticket counter. I'd call and ask.

Discover usually does a holidays 5% back for things online, etc. lately. Two years ago they initially didn't count my large purchase from the US Mint until I called and pointed out that it was an online purchase. The next year the fine print specifically excluded government websites.:scared::guilty:

Call and see what they say,

Yes, I have experience. I used my Citibank last summer at both Universal and Disney. Charged a lot and got NO 5% back. I complained to Citibank and they simply said it is up to the merchants (Disney or Universal) to say whether or not they are a theme park. I used it in the parks, at the hotel, gift shops, restaurants, and got NO extra rewards. My receipts and Citibank statement said 'Walt Disney World Resort'.

I already had tickets so we didn't use it for them, but nothing I charged got them. You might have luck there directly from Disney. I would not think Undercover Tourist would count. I have had problems with Chase on occasion also when their cards have extra rewards.

I don't have CitiBank I have Chase Freedom but I had the same issue last year on two different occasions.

The first was supposed to be 5% cash back on airline and other travel. Was excited to get extra points for booking tickets to Orlando but got nothing. Emailed Chase and they said that Allegiant wasn't "coded" as an airline for some reason and that it's up to the airline or store or theme park or gas station or whatever to code themselves as whatever they are or want to be.

The second was a different quarter and it was 5% off theme parks. Again, I figured if I booked a resort and ticket package via Disney's site it would count but it did not. They said that again, Disney was coded as a "resort" and not a theme park so that's why it didn't work.

I've noticed that Chase didn't offer airlines OR theme parks as extra cash back perks this year so I'm guessing they had a ton of problems with it.

In my case ...... both times I emailed and asked and they gave me the points as a courtesy gesture so I didn't lose out but it definitely wasn't automatic and if I hadn't emailed I never would have gotten them.

When Discover had 5% back on theme park tickets, I didn't get it for the package I had booked. A quick phone call and a wdw link got me 5% back on the ticket portion of the package. So, its worth a call if it doesn't show up on your statement. They've also been very good about changing restaurant charges coded as resorts.
