Cirque du Soliel - discount and question

For our upcoming trip, we wanted to se La Nouba. I was able to get discounted gift cards for Cirque du Soliel from Costco's website. Note: You can buy from Costco even if you are not a Costco member! They only come in $100 increments, and they are going for $80 each, though you pay $4 more as a non-member, so the end result is a 16% discount. (Hopefully this helps other people...)

However, to actually use these cards, you have to buy your tickets to the show through the Cirque du Soliel website, not through the Disney website. There are some differences, which leads to my question. The Disney site lets you select your category, and then it will tell you which seats in that category it is offering. The CdS website lets you pick the category then only tells you that you have seats in that category (but does not tell you where they are). And, the Disney site offers several delivery options, including regular mail, electronic delivery, and will-call. The CdS website only offers will-call.

So, now for the question: does anyone know what seats you end up with if buying through CdS website? My concern is that we end up with the dregs that are leftover on the day of the performance (since they don't tell us our seats or send any tickets to us in advance). I know they say that there's not a bad seat in the theater, but obviously some are better than others (which is why they have categories, after all...). Or, do they just give you the best available at the time you buy (similar to what the Disney website does), just not telling you ahead of time? I'd be curious to hear of others' experiences buying tickets to La Nouba through the CdS website - did you end up with "good" seats, or were they some of the poorest ones for that region?

Cat 2 and 3 are excellent seating. Cat 1, Front and Center and Golden Circle are not as good, and a lot more costly. That would be true with all Cirque shows, higher up is better. I would call Cirque direst, see if you can buy on the phone. I would bet you would be able to. You can then specify your actual seats. I have seen the show 4 times, always called. Even if you have discounted vouchers, give it a try.

So, I wouldn't say cat 1, GC, and front and center are bad. I've had front row seats and cat II seats and truly think this may be a theatre with no bad seats. But I do agree cat II gives you great seats at a better price point.

Thanks. I did try calling directly (we are getting Category 2, which is the same as Category C in the Cirque site). Unfortunately, they couldn't give me anything more over the phone than the website itself allowed (including not offering any option besides will-call pickup). Very strange! They must have some deal worked out with Disney where tickets bought on one site are occasionally sent to the other, rather than one combined system.

Honestly, I don't care that much, but I was hoping to avoid sections 101 and 105 (very close and way on the sides) and there didn't seem to be a way to do that... We'll see what happens, though - if we end up with good seats, I'll try to remember to update this thread appropriately.

I've not been to the show yet (July) but given what I know about Cirque shows I've got to say the Cat II seats did look better to me than most of the Cat I seats.

Even Ka at Vegas - Their Cat I seats are (appropriately) in the center/middle of the theater as the action will sometimes go over people's heads (figuratively and literally ;) ) in the front row and has the best vantage point. But I surprisingly found the front row to be a really cool position even though I had to crane my neck to see some of the trapeze acts immediately above and slightly behind me. The actors would often run right in front of me (I kept having to move my feet out of the way!) and I got to see great details of the costuming and acrobatic acts on the stage in front (as well as the stage tech)

If you have a Disney Visa card you can get a better discount of around 30% off La Nouba tickets and booking online tells you what seats you'll get but no method to deviate from the website picks. I am told if you call to book and use the Visa you'll have more options to choose your seats.

Cat 2, great choice.

If you have to use the website, see what it gives you. HAve a window or printout of the seating chart. If you do not like what it gives you, cancel that order and redo. It should offer something different.

We had perfect category 1 seats to La Nouba. It just depends on where you are within the category. We were far back enough to see the in-the-audience action (and closely), but not so far back that the stage looked small.

Just saw the show on Thursday night. We had Cat 2 seats that were amazing! There is so much show, that there couldn't be a bad seat in the house. So much to watch on so many different levels. Great show!
