Any opinions on spending a lot of money for tickets to the Cirque du Soleil ?

DH,DW and DS8 are going, but not sure how we ( or son) would like it. He is kind of timid, so we would sit 2nd level. Is the 90 minutes a long time?

Show is at 6 or 9 P.M. We would take the 6 p.m. show. we would have to eat dinner early that day.

Is this show really worth it??

TIA

It depends on if you like that sort of thing. DH hates it, so he's going to DQ while DD and I go. No need to spend the $ if he won't like it. I loved it! And, I'm sort of a ticket snob :snooty: So I always say go for the good seats. Though, if you read on the boards, they say all the seats are pretty good.

we went and loved it. we went to the later show so we had time at a park and nice dinner and when the show was over went home.

My 9 year old niece loved it too. it was on her recommendation that we went.

I have been several times and love it. I took my father to see it and he liked it so much that he suggested we go to see it again the next night! (And we did!) Of course, as with everything, taste does vary; just because we love it doesn't mean you will. You might try watching Cirque on tv (Bravo has it on a lot; not necessarily La Nouba); though watching it on tv is not at all like seeing it in person, it will at least give you an idea of the types of acts.

That is a really good question. I went solo and still thought that it was a lot to pay even though I liked the show a lot. My reaction was, well I'm glad I saw it but there would not be a second time. Not because of quality, because of expense.

If I had that many to buy tickets for I know, being as cheap (frugal) as I am I would require a probable death threat to part with that much. There isn't a lot of "scary" stuff in it. Just beautifully choreographed, very athletic shows. All high wire and trapeze stuff is done with a net and sometime multiple events are happening.

Summer of '04, we took our nephew & niece (11 & 8) to WDW. They loved it! IMO, it was $$$ well spent.

My family and I loved it so much, we're spending the big bucks to go again, and getting the best seats in the house, front and center. My children are older, so I have no qualms about sitting so close, but if your child is easily intimidated, by all means sit back a bit. My family found it intense, but in a jaw-dropping, fascinated-from-beginning-to-end sort of way. There is a little running up and down the aisles by the characters in the pre-show, so sit in from the aisles if it may frighten your child to be that close to people in strange costume. But if you can fit it in your budget, don't miss it!

We saw it almost five years ago on our honeymoon. We really had no intention to see it and my DH is really not into those types of shows but a CM at the hotel recommended it and got us tickets (they were almost sold out). We tell everyone it is so worth the money. Back then we had the Discovery Magic Package so we were able to use 2 flex features per person to see it, but even if we had to pay out of pocket, I would still say it's worth it. My DH will run across Cirque on Bravo every once in a while and actually watch it now.

Cirque is simply the best show at WDW. We are going for the third time in Jan.

We will be taking DS for his third trip to see Cirque (he'll be 1 mo shy of his 6th bd). He's been mesmerized since he saw it at 2yrs. Of course the trick is convincing him that you don't jump off the bed and try to bounce back from the chair! :earseek:

We went in July, it was Me 26, mom 48, sis 8 and my nephew 5. We all loved the show, but my nephew loved it the most. He still talks about it. For us it was totally worth it.

I absolutely love Cirque du Soleil. Great acrobatic stunts and very entertaining. I think you should give it a try. I'm planning to see La Nouba when we go.

I was one of those that said I would never go because I would not pay that kind of money for a show. My friend got tickets to La Nouba for us (as a gift) and I reluctantly went to the show. After 90 minutes (which flew by) I was blown away. I loved La Nouba so much we have seen it numerous times. We have also seen Quidam 3 times, Alegria twice, Varekai 3 times (with a fourth in December), "O" once, Mystere once and Dralion once. We also have tickets for Zumanity and Ka 2 weeks from now. Not only am I now a HUGE Cirque fan, but I would not miss it for the world, if I have the opportunity to see a show I will in a heartbeat.

We went one winter with DH, and DDs. Went because dd saw it on Bravo (which barely does justice to the shows). It was part of our Christmas present. I can hardly describe our feelings after the show. The 90 minutes felt like 10. We just looked at each other and started laughing and everyone talked at once "did you see" "I can't believe" "Wow"...........My dd wrote a paper for school that said Cirque was the most incredible thing she had ever seen. We took some friends with us to Vareki when it came to Chicago. To see a 6'3" 200lb + former Marine practically jumping up and down at the end was certainly a sight to see. Normally he dismisses "artsey" type things. Cirque is alot of money, no doubt, but not sure where you could ever experience something like this.

DD and I saw Cirque a week ago today. It was fabulous! We were in the second tier second row. The seats were great.
I'd go again tomorrow if I could. The 90 minutes goes by fast.
We went to the 6pm show so we did Planet Hollywood afterwards (30 minute wait for a table) Then we went to the World of Disney and bought lots of stuff. ;)

it is fantastic..i hesitated at first and got the cheapest seats which were fine imo...don't miss it

DH, my friend and her DH and I all loved it - the 90 minutes went by so fast, and we were all spell bound by the artistry and the amazing acrobatics and stunts. I think Cirque is completely worth the money! I agree with the poster who said that if your son might be overwhelmed that sitting back a bit and in from the isles is a good idea. I do think it was exciting, but not necessarily over stimulating. I don't know how to describe it - it's both soothing and exciting at the same time - you really have to see it in person to get the effect.

I say go for it. I saw it in May and loved it along with DD12.
I will see it again, not next trip but the one after that.

And like many have said there is not a bad seat in the house.

Enjoy,
Lori

We went several years ago, and we loved it. Since then DS and DIL have seen Cirque in Las Vegas twice, they loved the show in Disney so much. It was a treat for my family, but well worth the expense if you can afford it.
