We've sat near the front (4th row I think it was) and had a great view. It is always more comfortable from further back though IMO, because you're not looking up for an hour and a half. There are better seats than others but there really isn't a bad seat. There is so much going on throughout the show on and above the stage that you aren't staring dead center anyway.
Having been to several Cirque shows (including La Nouba), what you're hearing here is accurate. Cirque tends to use the entire theater, so seats in the 200 level frequently let you see more of the action than lower seats. From there, center is better, so I would take a last row center seat over a closer seat on the edges.
