I love the cinnamon rolls at main st bakery at WDW. Is there anywhere in DL that has really good ones too? I would love one of these.

Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street :thumbsup2

Does it matter what time of day you go to get one? I went during the evening on a trip 2 years ago after hearing here on the DIS how yummy they were and I have to say, I was underwhelmed. Are they better the earlier in the day you go? I want to try it again, but don't want to be disappointed.

davidsprincess, it could just be that you didn't care for them, and maybe trying a different time would not be any more successful. Or maybe head over to the bakery in DCA and see if theirs are any better (I think they sell them too). Or maybe it was an 'off day.'

I also tried a cinnamon roll from Blue Ribbon Bakery in the evening, during HalloweenTime 2007, and I loved it. To me, it was very large, and it was ooey gooey, warm, messy goodness. It was too much for me to eat by myself, so I shared it with my friend. It's definitely a lot to handle in terms of frosting. It's not something I could eat every day, but I thought it was really, really good!!

I've had one from the bakery at DCA and from the bakery at DL. They were exactly the same and sinfully delicious. They will heat it up for you if you'd like, and one time my mom commented on the yummy frosting and the CM asked if we wanted extra! They are so huge, big enough to split two ways.

Now see, this is what I was expecting. Instead I got one that tasted like it had been sitting there all day and had gotten crunchy. I really hope that it was just an off day when I got it. I think I will try again and get it earlier on.

Think I will ask to get it heated up!! Oh man, this is really making me want a cinnimon bun now!!

I've only had them in the morning, so yeah, maybe it was fresher?

Oh, yuck! It sounds like they must have been having an "off" day...they've always been really good when I've had them. And I've had them in the morning & at night (yummy warm cinnamon roll + cup of hot chocolate + holiday fireworks/snow =). Hope you have better luck this time around!

oh now I need to go and get the stuff to make cinnamon rolls. Is it the weekend yet.

Well, getting them warmed up is the key to the ooey-gooeyness of it all!!:rotfl2: You can't have the 'oo' or the 'goo' without a little heat-up!! And again, I got mine at night - not in the daytime - and mine was yummy. So it may just be a personal taste thing, or they were having the dreaded 'off day.'

I knew the rolls in DCA would be exactly the same in terms of recipe and the way they are made, but I suggested trying DCA's rolls because if the Blue Ribbon rolls are not as fresh, the ones at the DCA bakery might be a fresher batch - you never know. They could be at varying levels of freshness, depending on when each store has to put out new batches during the day.

I had one this last trip about noon time at Blue Ribbon. They heated it up for me and DH and I split one. The roll was good but I have to say I didn't care as much for the icing. There was a certain something taste to it that made it a tad too sweet (which is saying something for me). I can't put my finger on what it was. Maybe a kind of chemical taste? I probably won't get one there again and stick to the peaunut brittle. My son had a Materhorn Macaroon which he said was very good.

I actaully like the cinnamon rolls at IKEA better. They make them fresh there in the downstairs food area. We often stop and get some on our way to the Sacramento area. Those are wonderful and icing is perfect. And about a dollar each too. :)

I think the WDW cinnamon rolls are MUCH better. More flavorful. Smaller, but better.

I wish DL had the WDW turnovers too!

That is how I felt too. I had them heat it up for me and I took a few bites but I wasn't a big fan. The cream cheese icing they use seemed, in my opinion, to be more sour/tart than most cream cheese icings I've had. It actually had a bitter kick to it. I let my DH try it, as he is an avid cinnamon roll fan, and he didn't care for it either.

Ah, yes that was it. It must have been kind of cream cheese icing. I wondered about that but wasn't sure. I like cream cheese, but not on cinnamon rolls. It was slightly bitter. That is exactly what I was talking about. Give me straightforward sugar icing that doesn't compete with the taste of the cinnamon roll. I'll stick to IKEA. :rotfl:

Could it be that it was not cream cheese icing on the rolls? I don't know how they make them at DLR/WDW, but I have had cinnamon rolls from other places in the past where they didn't use cream cheese for the icing. They made it in other ways, just like cakes have frosting that's not made of cream cheese and some of them have frosting that is made with cream cheese, and that sort of thing.

I like the plain sugar icing too. I didn't get a full cream cheese taste from the rolls at DLR, but I didn't get a straight sugar icing taste either.
