Cindy Sheehan Arrested at Capitol

The reports on the news prior to the start of the speech said that she had been detained because when she enetered the gallery she began to unfurl some sort of banner, which is against the rules.

There was nothing said about arrest.

I feel badly for her. I think she is a mother who has lost a child and has gone off the deep end. I think a sad thing is that we have no idea what her late son's thoughts were on his military service. One would assume he believed in the cause and was proud. In that case, the fact that his mother has turned it into a media circus is sad, on many levels and for many reasons.

Her son was a grown adult and made his own decisions. Too bad she has chosen to dishonor him (over and over and over again) to push her own radical agenda. :sad2:

::yes::

Wait...you don't think that the Prez knew that she was going to be there tonight? You think that he actually wanted her sitting in the gallery with all of the cameras focused directly on her, getting her every reaction? Please...

Do you honestly think the President has nothing better to do than sic the secret service on an individual? I hardly think she was at the forefront of his thoughts tonight. Besides her actions if she had not violated Congressional regulations could easily be predicted without the aid of news media. Been there...done that. Either he's out to get her or he's ignoring her...seems people can't make up their minds.

I wonder what the slogan on her t-shirt was?

One source said it had the number of soldiers who have died in Iraq and "how many more will die". She apparently had it covered up until she sat down (knowing she wouldn't be allowed in with it), and then when warned that such displays are not allowed, she refused to respond.

As for her 15 minutes, she's clinging tenaciously, isn't she?

If this is the case and it was a shirt, I can see how she got in with it. They aren't going to strip search anyone and she probably had a sweater or something over it. Publicity hound.

She broke the rules and was properly arrested.

I feel bad for the woman. She is a mourning mother looking for answers and got swept up in a political mess. I fully equate what happened to her with what happened to the parents of Terri Schiavo. In both cases it was never their original intent to get caught up n the politics of the moment, but nonetheless........

I'm suprised she didn't wait until Bush started speaking before she revealed her T-shirt, I mean if your going to protest at least do it right. ;)

Here's my answer to that:
"Hi! I'm an idiot and I'm being used by anti-war groups to express their opinions and exploit my son's death."

Amen.

Instead of police HQ they should have escorted her right to Miami and airmailed her to Havana.

I assume that the lady has free will. I don't see why it bothers people so much that one lady protests like she does. I don't care for her methods but she certainly has the right to protest.

I feel bad for her I do, but she is taking it too far. Protests are one thing, but constantly throwing herself in the limelight just makes her look like a nut job.

I agree that she is making herself look bad. But I don't see the reason for the anger that so many people seem to have. She's just one loopy lady and she certainly has the right to act nutty.

I wonder if she was wearing one of those darn cardigans and "mom" jeans?

(Sorry, I was reading the "jeans" thread and had to ask.)

After all the nasty things she has said about her Senator Feinstein, she might have had her arrested.

She has every right to protest- but if she does something illegal, the authorities have the right to arrest her. She's no more important or less important than anyone of us on this board.

I feel sympathy for anyone who has lost a loved one. Ms. Sheehan is just becoming pathetic though. It's like she tasted a bit of fame and now there is no stopping her.
