DH, (Al) 47 (he doesnt care), gets on the plane when its time. Remodeling Contractor, award-winning homebrewer. (Wheres the beer?)
DD (Tink) 10, thinks shes a preteen, pure Princess. Dancer, artist, soccer mid-Monster, brainiac, comedienne.
We were up early again on Sunday the 2nd, off to see the real Cinderella at 8 am. I had debated about this one, since Tink is all of 10 ½ and thinks shes a pop star in the making. I worried that the Royal Table would seem a little silly to her. But we had never done it, and she was only getting older, so off we went. Besides, I got reservations! Even Al was impressed when I told him how hard that was to do, and didnt grumble about getting up early again. You all know that we didnt get to the castle until 8:20, since we had to wait to get into the park, but I had forgotten about that. Since we were one of the first to arrive, we got a table by the windows. I had dug out some pictures of Tink with Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle when she was two or so, and we brought them along. This was a good move Tink actually got a little tongue tied with the characters, and this gave her something to talk about with them. I had also brought along her autograph book from those earlier years, and she was quite happy to get more autographs. Belle was first by, wearing her blue dress. This girl was distracted Prince Charming was close by and she seemed quite taken with him. She kept trying to get his attention. I can see why, he was much cuter than the Beast! He was tall and traditionally handsome with dimples, not exactly Tinks type, but I thought he was adorable. And to his credit, he kept his courtly attention on Cinderella, a very tall and lovely girl herself. They both stayed beautifully in character. Tink was really caught up in all this, and had completely forgotten her food. We enjoyed ours, especially the yummy potatoes and chocolate muffin, and I think she finally ate all her pancakes. Jasmine stopped by, too, lovely costume. Much later, the Fairy Godmother stopped by. A more mature lady, of course, and quite chatty. We enjoyed visiting with her. We were one of the last to leave since our server got lost with our bill, but did make it downstairs for the opening of Fantasyland. Im really glad we went, I think we all enjoyed it. And we were able to hit some old favorites, and the new Pooh ride (cute), with no lines! Of course Dumbo had a line, but riding Aladdin later made up for missing it. We caught a few attractions we couldnt see on E-night, still with no lines, and were back at the GF by 10:30. We decided to go ahead and leave, even though we had a late check out. Tink wanted to keep touring rather than go back to the pool. After having our luggage picked up for transport to OKW, we headed over to Epcot. We got through Test Track pretty quickly in the single rider line, and then right into HISTA. Then off on a tour of World Showcase. We had brought along some pins to try trading on this trip, but didnt have them that day. Still, we did lots of looking, and I bought a few limited editions and 100 years pins. I promised Tink we would hit Epcot early one day for some serious trading. Meanwhile, we had started pressing pennies whenever we saw a machine. I am a lifelong collector, and Tink takes right after me. Our first stop on the World Tour was the UK, where the World Showcase Players were holding court. We sat on the curb, and Al went into the R&C to retrieve a Guinness. The show started a little oddly, with the crowd being taught some gestures and sounds that we didnt use much during the show, except for rubbish! This was used whenever one of the actors asked how we liked the show, or a joke. Came in handy! They picked two cast members from the audience, both adult males, and most of the fun came at their expense. And it did get quite funny. If you want to get picked for this show, it wouldnt hurt to be a distinguished looking, older Japanese man. The other guy caught the narrators attention by helping his wife with the gestures early on. We continued on and met up with one of the Living Statues in France. A slim young female with a Mona Lisa smile, this was also very entertaining. Note: you are SUPPOSED to cross the line and go up to the statue so your party can take your picture. Thats when the fun begins! Tink was wearing a Mickey hat that got pushed over her face as we started to take her picture twice! The statue was also very cute with a handsome young man. You have to stick around and watch this, its a lot of fun. We also saw a male statue a couple of days later, but people werent going up to him. So, he just stood there. We continued on, doing a little shopping, and stopped for a late lunch at Askershus, a place we had enjoyed on our first visit. It was pretty empty, no waiting, and the food was still good. Good desserts too, and Tink entertained us by practically blushing whenever one of the young Norwegian Gods walked by. One in particular looked like a young Mel Gibson, I had to agree with her on that blush! I think my daughter is a little precocious though. After the cookie was painted and consumed, we picked up some pastries at the Kringla bakery, and set out to check into our 1 bedroom for five nights at Old Key West. This was really easy, walked right up, everyone was very pleasant. Luggage was there, room was ready, what more could you want? We got a room on the first floor of Building 64, with a golf course and lake with a fountain just beyond our patio. And what a room! Tink was thrilled at having her own room, and immediately pulled out the sleeper sofa and claimed the remote to the big TV. This OKW suite was huge! Im not sure of the square footage, but we figured we could lose our stuff in there if we werent careful. The king size bed was heavenly, the most comfortable bed of the week, and I would have liked to bring the bathroom home. It was actually two bathrooms, sort of a bathroom suite. Tink could walk through the (full size!) laundry room to the toilet, shower, and vanity room, and another door went into the Jacuzzi bath room with pedestal sink, which Al claimed. The bath was for two people, but Tink used it first. We had thought about trying to see Spectromagic again that night, but all we wound up doing was going to the grocery store, fixing some dinner, and hanging out in our gorgeous new home. Well, we were pretty tired. And it was really nice. I had sent the closing papers for a resale at OKW just before we left. So although this stay was on rented points, we really were home. Hotels will never be the same, and we cant wait to go back.
Next up, Monday. Disney Quest, Boma, Fantasmic!
