Cinderella's Royal Table with Boys

How is CRT for boys? Any tips on how to make it a fun experience? It's just DH, DW, and DS6. I think DS will like the idea that he is inside the castle.

Are the character interactions in the restaurant just the usual table greetings with autographs and photos... or is there something else the characters do...like dancing? I saw some videos that showed the make a wish thing where the lights go out and heard some background Disney waltz music, but the restaurant sounds noisy from conversation. I know Cindy is in the lobby, not the restaurant.

Do boys dress up? DS might be willing to wear his King's crown. He has a knight outfit but it will be too hot.

Can you make a request for a table when you check in? For character meals, we like tables against a wall so we have a backround for our photos that doesn't include other diners.

Last year, DS kind of liked meeting the princesses -- he just doesn't like them kissing him with lipstick... But, Snow White told him "You can wipe away the lipstick, but a kiss from a princess stays there forever..."

CRT is very princessy. My 3 girls loved it. In the castle, the dinner is very festive/noisy. Cinderella is in the lobby downstairs where she takes pics with your party. It's all very fun. A royal announcer will call your name & you are invited upstairs where your table & server are awaiting you. Whether you can request specific tables is hard to say as the place is packed.

During our dinner 4 princesses came to our table to mingle/sign autographs/take photo's etc....your son might enjoy the interaction and attention from all the girls, especially if he dresses up. I would say "put fun first" & you'll all enjoy it

My DS and DB were both 12 when we first went to CRT. They LOVED it!!! Quite honestly, they both wanted to go again last year.

When we were there, at check-in the girls got a star-tipped wand and the boys got a sword. Your DS would probably get a lot of "princely" attention from the princesses, especially if he wore a crown! Enjoy it.

That's what I was thinking... this might sound a bit odd but meeting the princesses is not the most important reason for going to CRT because we can also meet them in MK and Epcot just as easy, but seems like it would be fun to do. Our next trip will likely be after the Beast's Castle is built and we will surely dine there, not CRT. So this trip's our chance for CRT! If DS says it is too "girly", I can always tell him we are going for Mommy to meet the other princesses!

I made reservations for lunch at CRT for our upcoming march trip. I'm telling my DS (will be 7 then) that this is the meal mommmy got to pick. His will be Chef Mickey's! I hope he likes it. We did the Norway proncess breakfast when we traveled with another family and thir DD's and he liked that one.

This is exactly what I said when, before our 2008 trip, the boys were grumping about the princess meal. Almost everything else during our trip revolved around the boys that this was something I wanted to do so they'd just have to suck it up. I didn't expect that they'd both fall in love with the place or that they'd be bummed when we didn't do CRT in 2010.

ETA: in 2010 we went to 1900 Park Fare and both boys (14 by then) loved that one, too. But they still told me that they want the castle for next time. LOL

My DS6 who is all boy had a great time there. Yes there are princesses, but it's not to the point where it excludes boys. Hope that helps.

My boys are huge WDW fans and if the food is good, they would put up with any characters. They hated CRT. We did breakfast, and it was many years ago, but I wouldn't do it again. My DD liked 1900 Park Fare better.

My boys were NOT fun when we went there, at the time I think my oldest was 10, then 6, then 5. They would not hug the princesses and would not make eye contact with them, the poor princesses tried to engage them but they were gruff to say the least. I was majorly embarrassed!! They really wanted to eat in the castle because they thought it would be cool, so they just wanted to eat and be left alone brats, needless to say, we are sticking with Chef Mickeys or WCC for these boys from now on.

However, having said all that, I think it depends on your son, what Disney movies he likes, does he know the characters, etc. My boys really didn't.

I agree that it depends on the kids and the circumstances. We have three boys and I've been a Minnie girl since birth, so no princess meals for me in nearly 40 years of DL/WDW experience! (I had dinner in the castle before it was a character meal - wish they would bring that back!)

Then our youngest son went through a princess phase around his 4th birthday. So we went to Akershus for dinner and CRT for breakfast during his birthday weekend - he wore his birthday ear hat and his prince cape to both. Akershus was great - the princesses were entirely in character, thoughtfully discussed their stories with him and answered his questions. CRT the next morning was quite busy and very focused on the girls - lots of discussion about dresses, etc. In the end, I think my expectations for CRT were too high after reading several reports about CRT being great for boys.

But I can still recommend CRT with boys in many cases. It's just plain fun to eat in the castle - at least once. And if your boys are either young enough or feeling festive enough to enjoy meeting the princesses, then it's a fun experience. Our older boys are HIGHLY festive, but I can understand why meeting the princesses is kind of uncomfortable. (Rapunzel is the exception - we met her and Flynn at the meet-and-greet when Flynn was still greeting and that was VERY fun for the boys.) And OP, if you would enjoy it, then I'd say go ahead!

We went to CRT for lunch last year. I have 2 girls and 1 boy. While we were waiting to get a picture with Cinderella, my son (6 at the time) kept whining and saying it was just for girls and that he wanted to leave. A CM must have overheard him because she brought out his sword early, while we were in the line. Boy did his tune change after that. He was happy to have a sword and be a 'Prince'. I was so relieved. We all enjoyed the rest of the experience.
(I don't remember there being any dancing, just Princesses circulating)

I'm glad we went and would recommend you give it a try.

We did go to lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table. The food was very good but it is a limited menu. DW and I both had the short ribs which were fine... but really no better than similar dishes... pot roast at Liberty Tree Tavern. Our waitress was great and brought plenty of delicious Florida strawberries for DS6. DS liked eating in the castle and meeting the princesses. But it was not a major thrill for him. I think he is losing interest in characters.

The princesses were great but really no different interaction than we had meeting them in line at MK or at Epcot or at 1900 Park Fare. So, it's hard for me to justify the cost of using 2 credits on the dining plan. We had credits to use anyway since we canceled 2 breakfasts knowing we wouldn't make it (staying out too late other nights).

I'd do it again for a girl... but really looking forward to what might come of the new Beast's Castle being built. I hope that's something special.

While it is "princessy", my boyfriend and I went last year. I got a magic wand, and he got a sword. Your son wearing his crown is a good idea!

My twins boys, age 6.5, loved it! We just went in July.

They got swords that said CRT on them, and they had a WONDERFUL time!

I did not see any boys that were dressed up, but they still had a wonderful time!

I have three boys and I was apprehensive on making an ADR for CRT. But I told them that it was my choice for breakfast. My boys are 8, 6, and 2 and they LOVED it! They thought it was really cool to eat in the castle and they really liked the swords. The selection/quality of food is just "okay" considering my oldest would not eat any of the food and my kids were only offered french toast sticks instead of eggs. They did give us extra eggs though when we asked. Let me tell you, my two year old was attacked by princess kisses! And he LOVED it! By the end of the day, when the kisses were smeared, he got really mad at me when I tried to clean his face! He pointed to his cheek and said, "princess kiss!" Most of the girls were dressed up, but no boys were dressed up. We also felt rushed to eat because we were 5-10 minutes late because we were taking pictures in front of the castle! IF I knew how to attach pictures I would show you!
