We are taking extended family to the Magic Kingdom for what may be the only trip for my nieces as children. We have reservations for lunch at CRT, and I am tempted to get them the slipper dessert, but wonder 1) if they are milk chocolate kids and the choices are white and dark, am I wasting my money and 2) we're doing a private fireworks cruise that night and I have a mini cake ordered for that - are the parents going to be horrified at that much sugar? I want this to be the most special trip ever...but also don't want the parents to hate me for over-sugaring the kids or for the special things to seem less special because I did too much. Thoughts?

I think it is very sweet of you to want to make this special for them. Instead of the slippers and all that sugar maybe look into a special souvenir that they won't outgrow. This way they will have something that will remind them of this trip for a long time. Enjoy

I want to do the same sort of something special, but for my parents instead.

Instead of the slipper, could you take them into Bibbidi to make their own tiaras or wands before dinner? (I believe it is possible, double check!). Or could you slip in to get them & give it as a surprise at CRT dinner?

I love the cake idea, so I don't think I would skip that!

The slipper dessert is good. However, the dessert that actually comes with the meal is REALLY good and a lot tastier than the slipper dessert. IMO, not worth the extra price tag. I think buying a souvenier is a better idea. :thumbsup2 That way they'll have something to take home with them.

Another who says go for a special souvenir over the chocolate slipper dessert, especially since you are doing another sweet later.

Though I don't know of any way to make their own wands or tiaras. They have them to buy though.
They'll get a wand at CRT, so keep that in mind.
The tiara's are darling though.

If you decide to order the Slipper, don't tell the kids, it'll spoil their meals.

You can have the dessert that comes with the prix fixe lunch AND have the mousse-filled Slipper.

Personally, we like the Slipper. I recall it can be ordered White, Milk or Dark chocolate shell - all with a chocolate mousse filling.

You can order just one for the table to share (or another if your group is large).

As to being too much sugar. Hhhhmmmm…….

It's Disney. You want to spoil the kids. There are worse things you could do.

Just don't let on that you're spoiling them, and maybe their parents won't get too annoyed.

But I could certainly argue for restraint.

Depending on your budget, you might look into getting the engraved glass slippers instead. It would be something to let them remember their visit for years to come and you could have them personalized with names and dates.
