I've booked a surprise dinner for my dd who will be turning 6 on our trip to WDW in Sept. We're doing the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian, has anyone done this & is it any good? I had reservations for breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, but when I asked which one she wanted to do, she picked the dinner at the GF, was it a mistake to make the switch?:confused3

CRT for breakfast to me is a little better then the Cindy dinner at the Grand Floridian. One thing I can think is better at CRT is they have more then just Cinderella they have more princesses like Snow White, Aorora, etc. However, the dinner at GF has Cinderella's step sisters and they are very fun. And also prince charming. To me I think that it would be cooler to eat at CRT because your in the castle, with more then one princess so I wouldv'e picked that if I were you, but then again she picked the dinner at GF and that's what she wants to do.

You made the right call.

The CRT breakfast is the worst food you can find in Disney... it also has very little interaction with Cinderella... They call the kids name rush the kid to stand by her, snap couple of picture and then rush the next kid up... If you've every seen "Christmas Story" you would think that Santa was the most patient person in the world when he kick Ralphie down the slide compared to the Cinderella photo minders...as for the character that drop by your table... you can find them all at other places in the park so you haven't missed anything.

While the GF doesn't give you a "free" photo with Cinderella you still get to see her and take your own photos... It also has the added bonus of visits from Prince Charming, the two step sisters and the step mother.... you wont find those character in the parks... You'll find the food at the GF is far superior to the nasty stuff they claim is breakfast at CRT.

If it makes you feel better both my daughters did them both... and after the fact they would always pick the GF over the CRT.

I am so glad to hear this! We did CRT for lunch last year and we did enjoy the ambiance of eating at the Castle,,, but wanted to try GF this year! DDs are so excited about meeting the stepsisters!

1900 Park Fare had some of the best character interaction of my trip!!!! Drizella sat down at my table and proceeded to chat me up for about 10 mins about hunting for princes. She told me she was waiting for Phillip to drop Aurora bc she sleeps so much, but beyond that, most men in the Kingdom were taken. Prince Charming chatted away with me too for awhile and commented on my Cinderella tshirt. Cinderella was so sweet and she asked if I had a prince, when I told her no, she gave me her top tip of losing a shoe - "it's the only sure way". The stepmother was a hoot too and really gave the kids at the table next to us a hard time about doing chores..lol.

Forgot to add that the food was great. The prime rib was awesome. Just don't let your kids see the ice cream bar before the meal! One kid next to us had a pile of gummy bears in a bowl next to his lone chicken nugget. You can guess what he had for dinner....lol Oh and both sides of the buffet had different stuff so check it all out. They even had the low mini buffet for kids with pizza, nuggetts, mac n cheese, and some veggies.

We just came back 2 days ago from my DD's birthday trip and we did CRT for lunch and 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We ALL thought that 1900 Park Fare was much better. Even DD liked 1900 better. The food at CRT was only ok and the characters seemed so much more rushed than 1900. We had great character interaction at 1900 PF, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the step family came around several times and if your DD is celebrating a birthday, they really make it special with a cupcake and a placemat signed by all of the characters. DD also got to dance with Prince Charming. I would definitely pick 1900 over CRT! JMHO.

I would also go with 1900 PF. We had dinner there 2 years ago and loved it. The food was good and the characters were great. It was my DS's bday. He also had a cupcake and the placemat to take home. Just have it noted on your ressie that it is your DD's Bday. I think she will love it!!:yay: :dance3:

yay! we're eating here in less than a month and I can't wait! i looove the stepsisters! i hope the prince is cute the night i go! lol

1900 PF is a must do for us every trip. We just went the last week of May and had so much fun! The stepsisters are hilarious, and the evil stepmother, well, lets just say she earns her title! The food is great too, we've never had a complaint the many times we have eaten there. CRT...we've never tried it because if I can't pronounce the food I don't want to eat it, lol. Also, it seems awfully pricey for a "character meal" where the characters don't even come around to the tables!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, my dd celebrated her 6th birthday at 1900, and she got the placemat signed by the characters, a birthday crown, the table decorated w/ confetti, and I ordered her a gorgeous Cinderella cake from the GF Bakery that was wonderful!

Edited to add: the pic in my sig is from our most recent visit to 1900 PF.

We absolutely loved dinner at GF over Breakfast in the castle.

My 3 year old LOVES Cinderella and the interaction with the step sisters and Prince Charming was wonderful.

At one point, they announced that it was time for the Royal Waltz and you might get asked to dance or something to that effect. Cinderella danced a few seconds with the Prince and then they turned to dance with others, I pushed my daughter towards Cinderella and said go dance with her. She held hands and danced with Cinderella! It was so perfect - she loved it. We video taped it.

Definitely highly recommend this dinner and the food was great - I didn't like the food at the castle.

I especially liked the food at 1900 PArk Fare Dinner, Cinderella's Gala Feast. I thought it had better food over other character meals. My daughter, age 5, loved it. She even danced with Prince Charming. Talk to a server and if they can arrange it. MY daughter is very brave and had a serious crush on him when she met him.

The food and the character interaction is much better at CGF than in the Castle. The princesses in the castle seem rushed. But at CGF all the characters spend a lot of time with you. My niece was in her Cinderella dress, and the real Cinderella showed her how princess put their gloves on, and how to wave. Prince Charming asked her if she was going to the ball that night. It was too cute! princess: We have gone twice, and the food was amazing both times too.

Please forgive my ignorance, we have never eaten at a table service restaurant at Disney but would like to try this dinner on our next trip. Is there a dress code for this restaurant or can we dress casually?

I have never eaten there but from the pictures I have seen of others, dress is casual.

Has anyone ever taken their son to this? We have the one child and he would get a hoot out of the stepsisters.

We ate there Feb 2007. The food was great and we are going again in Sept. I can't wait to met the Stepmother and Stepsisters. We saw them at the Christmas Party last year and they were so funny. Our son likes to watch Cinderella so I think he will enjoy it. DD will only be 22 months so hopefully she will like the characters.

We are going to the dinner for the first time in Nov. It looks like fun and I have heard good things about the food. I think the villians can be really funny and I think my kids will have a great time. I think your daughter will love it too!!:yay:

We did the Cinderella dinner at the GF in Jan. and breakfast at CRT last month. Having done both I would say that you (or your daughter) made the right choice. While CRT is worth going to for the experience of being in the castle, the meal is rushed, not outstanding, and if you're looking for character interaction with Cinderella herself you may get a moment when they snap your photo.

At 1900 Park Fare, we had plenty of time with Cinderella, as well as Prince Chaming and the stepsisters and stepmother (who were a hoot!). My DD (5) even got to dance with Prince Charming -- a magical moment! The buffet was terrific...something for everyone.

And they really make it special for a birthday (I had pre-ordered the slipper dessert and it was fantastic). I got a autographed placemat and a birthday tiara.

There is no dress code at 1900 PF. It is at the GF so I would say the dress is nice, casual clothing. :wizard:
