Cinderella castle question

I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who had won the stay at the castle and wasnt someone who was staying on resort property. I usually stay onsite but due to my sons food allergys I had to go offsite this time. Mainly because I needed a full kitchen and the only thing available 4 what I needed waas Saratoga at a 400 a night price that I couldnt do right now. So anyway.. I am wondering anyone that won was someone that wasnt staying at a wdw resort. I know its random. BUt if they ask the family where they are staying before bestowing the prize or mentioning what it is and they say offsite maybe they get Fast passes or something. I dunno if that makes any sense. The family wouldnt know what they lost of course. But with some people staying a distance out from Mk I thought this might upset the schedule they have for the winners. Just a thought.

Not sure, but seems like I read of a case where the folks were not on property. I don't think you should worry about that. I believe you will still be given the chance to stay if you win the night in the castle...you can stay the night after we do!!!

I don't know the answer to your ?, but am wondering what type of food allergies your son suffers from? My DD & I both have severe allergies and I am very sympathetic

Legally they can not discriminate that way. The computer tells them to issue the prize at this time and place to the person at this location (example: 1:30pm to the person that is sitting in row four left seat of the Big Thunder Mountain Train entering in on the spur side). The Dream Squad would be waiting at the spur side unload of Big Thunder Mountain for the car to come in at or just after (the one that comes in first... just after the clock changes to 1:30) 1:30 and they would go to row 4 and the person in the left seat would be the one winning the prize. If it is determined that that person is not eligible due to not being a citizen of the eligible countries, or a family member to a cast member, or perhaps there is not anyone in that seat...the prize will be sent back to the computer to be re-issued at another time and place later that day.

The only questions they will ask if you are "the person" are the questions that determine whether you are eligible to win in the sweepstakes, based on the official rules of winning. Being on site, off site, a local, none of these things have anything to do with winning. So have no fear, if you are the random person choosen staying on site or off will not affect your ability to win.

Thankd for the answers. I am sure you are all right and it truly is random. Just couldnt find one offsite winner. Not that I think wiining is exactly a high possibility but was just curious as to what their system was. Yasmina my son has severe nut allergies. We have planned our whole trip around this tp make sure he would be safe. If you want to exchange any ideas and tips on what it is to plan these trips and places to eat and so on feel free to email me. Thanks everyone!

and you don't have to be going to the parks even. One family simply stopped at DTD for shopping and won the castle stay. In their case one family member was drinking from a water fountain at the right time. Reportedly they adjusted their schedule to stay the night.

We won the suite...and it was spectacular.
They did ask afterwards if we were on site or off and if we had anyfood allergies. We don't, but I suspect they would have taken care of everything.

It was done first class.

One of the first trip reports here on the DIS from a family that won was staying in a condo offsite. So no worry there.
