Does anyone know if they allow cigar smoking on the grounds of the Poly?

My husband likes to enjoy a cigar every once and a while, but some places don't allow cigar smoking. (Though I think cigarette smoke is much worse, myself.)

Thanks!

I have never seen any signs about cigars. I would think that if you are in a smoking room you should be ok.

Your question will probably open up a heated debate. You should ask at the front desk, but WHATEVER they tell you, please be considerate of NON SMOKERS.

Thanks for your replies!

FYI: I'm a NON smoker, too. So if my spouse is not considerate of this non smoker, there's big trouble. He only smokes cigars in wide open spaces in the fresh air. He wouldn't even think about smoking them in a room....bleech... the smell would get in the bedding and carpeting.

I was thinking about a bar area where they have adequate ventilation, or an outside lounge area.

The polynesian grounds are huge. Even at full capacity, you don't run into alot of people, when walking around, except in the buildings of course. We had a room overlooking the pool area, our last trip.

When I went to have a cigarette, especially in the early morning or in the evening, I just found a secluded chair, making sure no one was around I would bother. If I couldn't find a secluded chair by the pool, I would walk down to the lake area, and sit on the beach.

I think as long as you take other people into consideration, it shouldn't be a problem. For example, you are allowed to smoke on the patios, even in a nonsmoking building (per hotel rules), but I wouldn't do this. What is allowed and what is appropriate is too different things :)

I obviously don't want to start a debate on smoking here, as it is a HOT topic, and the thread will be closed immediately.

You are obviously concientious about this and it will be appreciated. It is the people that don't care about others and just light up whenever and wherever they want, that cause people aggravation. I try not to be one of those.

Have a great trip.

He had his cigars around the pool bar. There are ashtrays readily available there too. I've seen other folks smoking at will around the pools and, yes, there are ashtrays around the pools, too.

I believe my husband also had a cigar at the Tambu Lounge--only one side of the bar is a smoking section though--the one away from the dining crowd--makes sense. ;)
