Cici Water Park

Bumping for you since we plan to go there on our own :)

I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say

Deb

Does anyone have any information about doing Cici on your own--as opposed to a DCL tour? The Cici web site isn't much help.

I agree with you guys....the website looks cheesy, so I have hesitated to sign up, although we want to do it. Shall we sign for the same time???
~Jen

p.s. We did the dolphin experience in Cozumel with DCL two years ago (before baby!!!) We loved it, but want to do the dolphin expereince this time. I fully regretted doing that one with DCL once I got there, saw how easy it all was, and how much cheaper on your own. It would be nice if some of us could at least chare a cab over there!?!?!?!? ~Jen

We did it..and sorry we did. Cheesy isn't quite the word that describes it for me. We did swim with the Dolphin with our 6 year old DD and it was ok. If you are expecting Sea World...don't hold your breath.

My biggest problem was the cleanliness...or lack of it. AFter the dolphin DD wanted to swim in the big childrens play pool. I took her in and after about 2 minutes noticed something float by..something normally seen in a bathroom. Out we went..back to the ship to shower!

I'm usually not too critical, but this is one think I would skip if I were you...
Jim

We weren't planning on swimming with the dolphins...just the water park. Now I'm not sure I want to do that. If there is "stuff" floating in the water...YUK!!!

I guess it seems silly to go to Acapulco and swim at a waterpark :)

Any one else have any reviews?

Deb

Hi there,

We would not do it again....and I wish we could get our money back...the following is my blunt opinion only.....

First if you are going for the water park, then dont waste your time or money....

If you are going for the dolphin part....well....ditto...but I know the lure of dolphins...but prepare yourself for something mediocre...

We have done discovery cove in Orlando, which is amazing grounds and very knowledgeable staff..this is nothing like that...I would strongly reccommend that or save up for a trip to the Dolphin Research center in the keys.

The water park itself is rundown (compared to US standards) and not much shade and crowded. The place did not have much personality...it was alot of cracked concrete - no alot of greenery..and the swimming water was a questionable shade of yellow green, though we did not see any offending bits....after one slide, I was ready to go...it did not seem to have enough chlorine at all...yuck:crazy2:

We did the swim with the dolphin and the pool is very small and although it is always amazing to be in the presence of such wonderful creatures, we ended up feeling sorry for them. The pool is much to small. The animals have quite a few scars and my favorite part is them telling you to not panic if the dolphin puts his mouth around your hand or foot "Its because they like you"....okaaaayyy.....it didnt happen, but was disconcerting at first....

The food/lunch offering is awful....so plan ahead - if you do decide to go , I would bring something from the ship. There is a Mc Donalds right outside the park entrace...but we did not find anything edible on the menu and that was the general feeling of the people we talked to before ordering to see what they liked.....the first thing (after showering) we did when we got back was get some food...we were starving...

We were on the repo cruise (so I dont know if they made any changes to this excursion after that) but there was no way to leave earlier than the 3:30 departure and there were alot of people more than ready to go sooner than that..even though there were a couple bus loads of people waiting, they did not load up a bus and get it on back. Then when we got on the bus, they told us the next part of the trip was a shopping excursion ( which was not in the literature I had read about this excursion, but others knew...so I dont know what happened - I was not the only one who did not know about a shopping stop) ...we had alot of hot, tired kids that needed showers and naps....no one was happy...we had a minor revolt and they dropped off the 3 people who wanted to shop and took back the 50 people to the boat that wanted to get cleaned off....

Wish I could give it a better review, we were really looking forward to it. But ultimately it was an experience, but also a disappointment from expectations...let me know if you have any more specific questions...I will try to help

Jen, I did e-mail them and we signed up for the 10am dolphin swim. There are 3 of us. I was told it was a $12 cab ride each way ( not per person) How many are in your group?

There would only be the two of us....Chelsea (14) and me, but I'm having serious doubts at this point. When I looked into it a few months ago, I didn't have good feelings, and those feelings are being validated by the above comments. I THANK those of you above for your honesty...... Isn't there a dolphin swim in Curaceo (SP?)

Thanks Nem for your honest opinion. We will NOT be going there. Yellow water? I'm surprised it was a sanctioned Disney excursion. I thought they went through the excursion to make sure it was okay before they offer it as one of their "own". I must be wrong!

Guess we'll have to find something else to do in Acapulco.

Any suggestions?

Deb

I think I'm going to switch to Curacao dolphin encounter too. Now what to do in Acapulco? Deb did you get any ideas?
Diane

Diane,

I haven't done too much research yet...

As soon as I find a few I'll pm you and see if you'd like to join. Any others want to join?

Sound good?

Deb

Okay. Just read the post from Roberto at the ACA Port Authority. Here is what I found out.

La Roqueta Island and Caleta Beach are close to where we dock. We would take a boat located in the middle of Caleta and Caletilla which would take us to the beach. I believe we must take a take to Caleta and Caletilla from the dock. It is a $5.00 round trip and the beach is free.

The Hyatt has pool and beach day privleges if you buy drinks or eat lunch. Roberto says this is a calm beach.

Las Palmas beach is very secluded, but is rocky and hard to swim.

We haven't decided what to do yet...Just wanted to give you the FYI

There is always the cliff divers, shopping, Senior Frogs..ect.. I don't think my kids are interested in the cliff divers or shopping. To young for Senior Frogs..so the beach or Hyatt is probably what we will end up doing.

Thanks,
Deb

I find it hard to believe ( and I do not mean to offend anyone) that only 1 person has respond about how dirty and yucky this place is. You can't tell me there were not more people from the magic that did this. And how could disney continue to sponser this if it is like that gross. We all heard about how bad the food was on the cliff divers, yet no one posted about this water????

I plan to walk around, shop, sit, look, eat....nothing big. Maybe do the cliff divers in the evening, on our own. Remember, the ship is gonna be a nice place to be that day, cuz almost eveyone will be off running around. The only "excursion" I'm considering at this point is the Hyatt.....I think a BIG pool will be real nice at that point in the trip.....and would love to hook with any one else going!!! ~Jen

I just recently received this post from Roberto from ACA Port Authority:

Dear Deb,

I haven't been to the park since November and could say it was clean, but in all due fairness it wasn't the busy season and we did't swim in the wave pool. I am planning on going in a couple of weeks to swim with the dolphins. Hopfully then I can post my comments.

An option is that you could write to the the visitors office to get a quote from them, since they receive complaints and comments from many tourists. Arely Figueroa takes care of PR ofr this office.

afigueroa@ocvacapulco.com

Hopefully other boarders can give you their comments, from my experience I would recommend it.

I posted the email of the staff of the waterpark, email them and see what they have to say.

It's not that I don't believe others who have posted, because I do. I just like to go to a source and find out what is going on. I have emailed Arely and when I receive more info, I'll let you guys know.
