Churro Waffles- Concierge Only?

I've never had one, but figured I would eventually. Perhaps not on the Destiny, which is my next cruise. I wonder if they are trying this out to keep it less chaotic in the buffet on that morning. I know on my last sailing on the Magic, people who normally don't eat in the buffet were going to get it specifically and my table mates actually went to get it, even though they were having an early brunch at Palo. It could be so overhyped that it has become a problem.
I hear what you're saying, but I'm not sure that's been my experience. Yes, the buffet is a bit more busy on churro waffle morning, but I've never seen it out of hand. The line is a little long, sure, but no longer than I've seen other buffet lines during busy times.

Of course, that's just my experience so perhaps there are instances of things getting out of hand. With some of the behavior I've witnessed and heard about from guests, I sadly wouldn't be surprised.

If this is true, that's really disappointing. I like the churro waffles and anxiously await them every cruise. All the MDR servers know they're a hot commodity because they always are sure to tell us the night before that they'll be offered. They can't offer them for one day on a cruise? I know it's a minor thing, but I don't get why DCL keeps cutting back.

(And this is coming from someone who sails concierge a lot so could still get the waffles for free, but I disagree with this philosophically.)
I agree, they can't be that much more than regular Mickey Waffles. If they offered them more often, people wouldn't go crazy for them when they're available.

Good point! Yet another thing where DCL/Disney has created this 'fake' demand that becomes overhyped and leads to problems. PAT comes to mind-everyone's scrambling at midnight to get the earliest PAT and lo and behold, the site crashes.

I have never had a churro waffle, do they even have them in the parks? They seem to be to die for with mostly everyone loving them and singing thier praises, lol. But with them serving them on the ship, what the last day of the voyage, to everyone and then pulling back and only allowing CL guest to get them, is a horrible, desperate look for Disney. I mean, this is screams greed.

Its seems like yes, they realize they may have hit a price ceiling, on top of a bigger inventory than they need.
I think they have churro waffles at the Crystal Palace for breakfast.

Yep, a little cinnamon sugar isn't a cost breaker. And if there were concerns about crowds then they could just add them to the daily menu. Well said. In the end Disney just seems to no longer really care about delighting their customers. These days, customer enjoyment is just a means to nickel and dime. I've never had a churro waffle, although I seen them available on several occasions. Maybe I just didn't know what I was missing.☺️

I can say that I used to enjoy eating a donut or two onboard back when they were Krispy Kreme donuts (prior to 2023). I generally don't eat donuts at home so I did enjoy splurging when sailing. Leave it to Disney to create a completely tasteless version. 👎The current donuts couldn't be worse. They could get rid of those and do everyone a favor.

I am surprised that Novo Nordisk does not subsidize the production of Mickey churro waffles in order to cultivate the next generation of Ozempic users. Maybe I need to reach out to them.

As someone who only started sailing in 2020 I did not realize HOW much I have been missing out on!
It's the same on many lines especially with as large as these ships are getting it's not always about the little extras anymore but what they can occupy a passenger's time with and that's a lot of flashy things these days as opposed to what's going on inside the cabin for example. Not as recent as 2020 but cruising used to be (outside of Carnival especially which has always been seen as the budget line) much more for the affluent crowd. That doesn't mean it was exclusively that but just like flying many decades ago the type of experience was commiserate of the fact that much fewer of the public could afford such trips. And things have really gotten up there in costs for the cruise lines. I don't think everything they change and adjust aligns with that as some is simply just easy cost-cutting=more profits for them but that breadth that is the cruising world is now much bigger and more passengers than years ago.

People on Seabourn speak so fondly of all the extravagance that was on the ships like Pride (their first ship in 1988) and Spirit (their second ship in 1989) both of which are now Windstar ships but it was a different world back then both in expectations of what cruising meant and even the ships. Even the early 2000s was just a different world with cruising.

The pandemic just spurned a lot of changes for a lot of cruise lines and it changed even passenger desires. Certainly not all positive though but it's hit pretty much all the lines out there.

More confirmed to reports that they were not available at Marceline market, but were able to be purchased at Edna sweet shop and were available for concierge guests

They aren't my favorite thing either, but that's kind of not the point. Charging guests for something that used to be included is a cutback that I'm not happy DCL starting to make. I'm also concerned about what this signals for future cutbacks
TBH? Things like this is why I went from adoring DCL to being unlikely to spend my own money on DCL.

We have a tradition of going to the Crystal Palace when we visit the parks. My kids love them, but they were overly sweet for me, and I love anything Churro-like. I don't know if they would be my first choice on a cruise. I'm more surprised by the cult like response people have had to them being missing. Especially because it was a maiden voyage. I could understand if it was confirmed or we were months into sailings and they weren't available.
