My family will be arriving this Friday 10/5 and was curious if there are any Sunday Morning services on property?

I'm from the south and that's just the way we roll.

God is good.

Thanks.

I don't remember if there are any. But you can Google what your looking for in the surrounding area. That's what we had done last October when we went down. Unfortunately, we weren't able to attend any services b/c we only rented a car for 2 days and couldn't afford any more days.

There used to be a non-denominational service at the Polynesian on Sundays, but it was discontinued several years ago.

I am not sure, but this is what we do. Dh packs his Bible( I don't bring mine-I just use his) and every morning he usually gets up early and has his quiet time. Then on Sunday he leads us in a short devotion time. It's very sweet and works for our family. The kids love when Daddy does devo.s, he's very good!! They love that they get to participate in Sunday morning "church". If this doesn't sound fun for you call the resort where you are staying and they could give you directions to the nearest worship area :)

On AllEars.net there is a complete listing of area services....but I think the PP's idea was great!:thumbsup2

We did what DisneyMommy3 did. My FIL is an elder in his church, so he did our service. There was 10 of us (3 kids included) and we sang the kids favorite songs and he did our lesson. For the Lord's supper, my inlaws got that ready before we left and had enough for everyone.

**I'm not sure what denomination you are but if you want/need to partake the Lord's supper, ask your church if they have a travel kit that you can use or you can buy them at a Christian bookstore.

All great ideas and we will probably have our own devotion service near a beatiful spot on our resort property.

I just find it sad that we don't celebrate such a wonderful place by giving guests a formal place to go an worship.

Thanks again to everyone who posted their ideas.

According to an article I found, it simply became too difficult to accommodate everyone on property. Think of how many people 18 resorts hold! Also, they felt it unfair to offer only services for one faith, Protestant, and exclude the many visitors of other faiths.

I think their decision makes a lot of sense, and was thoughtfully considered.

Beginning in 1975, Disney began offering religious services at the Polynesian Luau area, attracting up to 1,600 people each week and up to 4,500 on Christmas.

In those early years, there weren't any nearby churches, says Disney spokeswoman Rena Callahan. But now, says Callahan, there are multiple churches in the area — and 18 Disney resorts.

"As we expanded the number of hotel rooms, it became difficult to provide a single space for all the guests who wanted to worship," she says.

"It's not a question of it being the right thing to do," says Callahan. "We're not saying we don't care about this. It isn't a question of morality. It's a question of being able to accommodate the demand."

<snip>

Says Disney's Callahan, "We felt we couldn't accommodate it and felt the need to offer more than one type of opportunity to worship. There are so many faiths, that it would be wrong to have just a Protestant service available."

Having a weekly nondenominational service on Disney property was proposed as an alternative, she says, "but we believed we would have had the same challenge" with accommodating the number of people wishing to worship.

Pizam defends Disney's argument, saying that it would be unfair to offer worship services that didn't have room for all who wanted to attend.

"Who do you turn away?" he asks. "Sometimes you're better off not offering it at all, than turning people away."

Here's a link with some local churches:

We lead a group of about 40 people from our church a couple years ago and I wrote some Disney Devotionals based on each of the theme parks that I would be happy to send to you, if you wish. Most of the families had youngish kids and so the were done at that age level. Send your email address in a PM and I can send them to anyone who wants them.

All the time God is good:) I am with you, without my church time, I am weak..Have a great trip.

We have done a family service in our room a few times while at WDW. This past Easter we decided to go to the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues in DTD. We certainly heard the Gospel that day and had plenty of food too! We truly felt like we had been to CHURCH!

I admire your desire to attend church services at Disney. My last trip, even though I attended every Sunday, it was the last thing on my mind. My logic is that there is a time for everything....even Disney.

I am quite impressed!
