Chuck and Lynn Go to Mousefest! New 5/4!

That's so cute, is it gingerbread?

Yep! That was in the Boardwalk lobby! I fell in love with that resort when we went over to see the decorations. It's like the French Quarter but up a couple notches. I think I'd like to stay there more than the Grand Floridian. ;)

You are all so sweet! I wish I could just sleep all day today, but we are off to Meme for First Christmas! I feel like I've been beat half to death. Oh, the joys of working retail at Christmas!

Hey guys!!!! I am glad I found your TR on Mousefest. I understand how things can be crazy b/c they are for me. I will forgive you if you forgive me for since I think I am the WORST Dis friend. I always promise TR and then get too busy to do them...maybe I will finally get one done. I am looking forward to seeing how the trip went.

Hey! I was just thinking of sending you a PM the other day. I know you've been really busy. Did you move to England? I'm so glad you came by. We all understand about being too busy to do a report. You will always be my DIS friend, no matter what! :thumbsup2

Day One Part One

Are you ready for another Chuck and Lynn trip report? Here we go!

After a long weekend of “will Lynn get better?”, Lynn got as better as she could and we were packed and ready to go anyway. Meme made it into town early on Tuesday and seemed confident in her ability to get the children where they needed to be, so around 10 PM, we tried to get a little sleep. (yeah right, that’s not happening!) At 1:30 AM we jumped out of bed (okay I exaggerate, but we were excited.) and hit the road. I took the first shift Irmo, SC to Kingsland, GA. Chuck had loaded up our MP3 player with all our favorite podcasts and it was especially fun to listen to the podcasters that were also on their way to Mousefest. The excitement was contagious!
Before I knew it, we were in Kingsland and stopping at the our, same Citigo. Sure, the clerks may be a little more pierced and tattooed than your average person, but even at 4 AM they are friendly and the bathroom is clean. What more can you ask for?

Chuck looks ready to drive his shift. LOL

I curled up in the back seat and slept all the way to Daytona Beach. The good thing about no kids is I can lay down in the back seat for my nap and not have to contort myself in the front seat with luggage on my lap. I’ve never slept that long on a trip (usually much too excited), but I still wasn’t feeling well.

I was so glad to see this familiar sight.

This was our first stay at the Caribbean beach resort so we were very anxious to see the grounds and rooms. Unlike other resorts, the check in is in a separate building from the food court and shops called the Customs House.

It had a great feel to it. I guess the island feeling is easy to pull off in Florida.

Check in went quickly and I got to see the first of many Caribbean Christmas decorations.

The CM said our room was ready and that we were in Trinidad South. I could tell from the map it was far from the Food court, but I was really feeling bad and just wanted to get our room and put our stuff away. That was my first mistake.

We left the Customs House and began to drive. Finally, we found our building, the very last building at the very edge of the resort.

It wasn’t Trinidad South. It was North Pop Century!! Seriously. We could see the bowling pins from our building. Chuck swears he heard the Hustle one afternoon.

The grounds themselves were beautifully landscaped and very quiet. We found out later it was because we were the only ones in that building.

Our building was old and definitely in need of a refurb. Here is our room. Come on in!

DSCF1595.jpg

We had two double beds. The rooms are bigger than the other moderates and we could definitely tell.

DSCF1364.jpg

We had a nice little sitting area.

DSCF1365.jpg

Entertainment center and a seat with a nice big drawer. Fridge is in the blue cabinet.

DSCF1363.jpg

The faucet has the resort name just in case you need to know it when you are in the shower.

DSCF1366.jpg

The shower wall had a cool pattern to look like a carving.

There was a cute little hidden mickey on the bed spread.

DSCF1374.jpg

And a lovely picture of Castaway Cay on the wall. (a little advertising there.)

A last but not least, our view.

After a quick unpack, we realize we are starving. Let’s take a walk to the Food Court. How far can it really be?

That was my second mistake.

I'm so glad you've started! I love Sunday updates to ward off the work blues! So you were away from the hustle and bustle. You couldn't really be the only people in the building... could you? :confused3 Laughing that the resort name is in the shower. That's generally where I'm wondering where in the world I am.

First mistake and second mistake... uh-oh. I prefer to think of it all as research. Research that will aid other DIS'ers on their trips.

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

I wish my shower said Caribbean Beach Resort! Sure woud take the edge off the day to day!

Hurray! You've started your TR! I love the look of Caribbean Beach Resort, but I am really nervous that you are so far from civilization! :scared:

At this point in the report we were the only people in the building (which got real interesting later.) We got neighbors on Saturday. I thought the reosrt name in the shower was cool. I've never seen that anywhere.

Research, hmm? I like that.

I wish my shower said Caribbean Beach Resort! Sure woud take the edge off the day to day!

:rotfl:

No kidding about the whole building to ourselves thing! There were only four other cars in the building's parking lot during the first couple of days there, and I only recall seeing one other person in the same building.
It was a great feeling that we had the whole building to ourselves.....however....we were the last stop in a resort with seven (yes 7) bus stops...after a day in the parks and returning home, by the 4th stop, I was losing my will to live (3rd stop if there was a screaming kid).
the only really downside to being so far away from the food court / main pool, is that I didn't hit the hot tub like I had planned, but then who goes to WDW just to soak in some hot water?
And besides it was neat staying in a room that will soon going to be renovated and will never be that way again. I really did like the themeing of the room and I liked the extra space and the beds that came up off of the floor. If we had more time I think that we may have stopped off at Mouse Surplus to see if they had any of the bed spreads and drapes......Hmmm.......I think that I see a possible off-property meet for next year's Mouse Fest - who's in?

Welcome back guys!! It's taken me a while to catch up. I'm so excited to hear about your adventures. It sounds like you had a lot of them.

I would love to check out Mouse Surplus some day! I never have a car so don't think of it but I imagine it as a treasure trove of Disney stuff! I look at their ebay store from time to time.

I'm so in!

I'm sorry your location wasn't better at CBR. I've been lucky and have mostly had Aruba or Jamaica in recent years. The quiet thing is really nice but I can see how an extra long bus ride would be a downer at the end of the day.

Oh my North Pop Century!! Sounds interestingly un-civilized....
