I've lately been toying with the idea of getting a Chromebook. I currently have a 2011 MacBook Pro but it's really slowing down/having some issues. I love Mac, but not sure I want to spend the money on a new Macbook when I really don't use or need all the features of a typical laptop anymore. I'm mainly on the internet, occasionally use Microsoft Word, and use You Need a Budget on my computer.

Would Chromebook be a good fit for me? Tell about the model you bought and prices.

I have a MacBook Pro and several nice Windows machines for work, but at home we all use Chromebooks. My husband and I both work in IT and have found that for us, the big boys are great for work, but we just don't need a lot of power at home. Like you, we pretty much use our computers at home for the web, Word, and entertainment like Netflix and Spotify. I also use mine for Swagbucks, MyPoints and a few other earning sites. Husband does game, so he also has a nice desktop, but that really is strictly for gaming. Best of luck with your decision!

I find printing with a Chromebook to be a complete pain unless you have a "google cloud print" printer. Never thought about the printing aspect when looked at the Chromebooks and if I knew that a first, I would of never purchased it. It is good for everything just not printing.

We all have this one https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chromeb...GB+RAM,16+GB+Solid+State+Drive,Chrome),+White

I love them because it updates itself and I haven't had issues with viruses. It's virtually maintenance free!! My DH & DD have had theirs for 3 years but I'm on my 2nd one. I think when I was on vacation in Myrtle and kept taking it in and out that the humidity probably did something to it. This one has been going strong for over a year. And if it bites the dust it's not like its too expensive to replace.

We use it for email and surfing the net. If i want to print I make it a pdf and email to myself and print at the library or at my work.

My DD21 even uses her's for school. She uses a Microsoft Word app or just google docs for anything she needs.

I give them a thumbs up for ease and their non stress factor!!

I love mine. We use Google for everything at work (a school district). I have a google account for my classroom and then a personal one. I was able to link up my printer to the Chromebook, but it did take some figuring out.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Good to know on the printing. I rarely print at home, but I would have DH's laptop to print from if I needed to, so it wouldn't be a huge deal. Maybe I'll look for some good deals around Black Friday and get one then.

It is a little pricey so you may want to look for a good deal, but Samsung chrome book Pro is about as close to a laptop as you're going to get. Chrome books are good as long as you're big into Google services. They may be a bit of a hindrance for Apple Fans. That and you need a steady Internet connection.

I completely agree with this post. DH and I have to use chromebooks for work and if you don't have a wireless/cloud printer, you're going to drive yourself nuts. I will say that they are good for the price, but other than that there is nothing special about them.

I have an Acer Chromebook and absolutely love it. It was provided to me at work, so I have no idea about cost. It has a touch screen, it's super convenient. We use google for everything at work, so I truly have no need for any other kind of laptop. We use a wireless printer at home, so the printing isn't really an issue. I wouldn't think twice about purchasing one if I needed to.
