HI I am trying to decide on dates for next year. We had originally decided on November but the more I read about the Very Merry Christmas party, the more I think we shoulkd wait until very early Dec. We like to go when the crowds are less and the weather is cooler. CAn we still swim at that time and how was the crowds? Is it worth waiting to go to that party with a 2yo and 7 yo? Any suggestions would be appreciated! THANKS

We have been to 2 MVMCPs and are very sorry that we will be at WDW too late for any this year. The last one is on Dec. 17th and we're flying in that night.

I enjoy swimming, but I haven't often swam at Disney in December, temps haven't been right for me. We were at VWL on the 19th of December last year (that was the date of the last MVMCP last year, so we were hopeful), and very few people were using the pools, but by the end of our trip it was getting warmer, so we must have been there at a particularly cold time.

On a Dec. weeknight, there was no line for the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, whereas on the weekend, the line was tremendous. I just don't remember how the crowds were at the parks other than that. We certainly didn't need the priority seating for CP!

Family and I were down this past Dec 1-9, and we were able to get in 3 days of swimming. There were a couple of days in high 50s or low 60s, but the rest were mid-high 70s. Coming from the winter confines of Chicago it felt like 90!!!

Enjoy your trip, and definitely do MVMCP. Click here for my day 2 report that includes MVMCP.

We stayed at the VWL last Christmas and it was great. This year to take advantage of our AP, we are going for Thanksgiving but staying an extra couple of days becuase the first MVMCP is the Sunday after Thanksgiving on November 28. So you could do a late November/early December trip and catch the MVMCP too.

The pools at the hotel are heated so swimming is not really a problem especially during the day. The hard part is getting from the pool back to your room without being an ice pop lol.It is also nice to go into the spas at night with the chilly air. Bring a robe or something to cover up on your way back to your room if you do choose to swim. Also make sure to pack a whole range of clothes. Dec weather is totally unpredictable lol. You could go from wearing shorts to wearing coats. As happened to me and dh last dec. Wore shorts most of the time during our 5 day stay and wam! cold front..... and I mean super cold even during the day, I was wearing gloves and a hat lol. MVMCP is also alot of fun. the main thing to do would be to see all the special shows and parades. It really puts you in that holiday mood. Also if you can , I recomend getting tickets for a night during the week as opposed to fri, sat b/c you will get all the weekend crowds that way. Have a great trip no matter what you choose.

Early Dec. is a great time to go. Went last year Dec 3-7, going this year Dec 5-11.

Most days were between 60-70, many people were swimming. Mornings can be cool and there were a couple of cold days, but overall the weather was great.

Weeknights are the best time for the MVMCP, bring a sweatshirt though, as it can get into the 50's.

Best bet is to plan for all types of weather and you will not have any probems.

Anytime after Thanksgiving and into the first 2 1/2 weeks of December the parks are not all that crowded except on the weekends of the MVMCP, so if you would like to do that try and get tickets for a week night. The weather can be iffy, one day warm and beautiful the next cool to cold. I have actually worn a ski jacket to MVMCP! But it really got me in the mood for the holidays! The party is so magical, the shows, the decorations and the atmosphere in general. Also all the resorts are done up and worth going to see too! The pools are heated....still a little to cold for this FL. girl, but you do see people using them! And of course the spas are wonderful! Everything about Disney in Dec. is great!:
