Christmas Week

We've never been to Disney (land or world) in December. We are toying with the idea of a trip to DLR during the week leading up to Christmas this year. Given how crazy Christmas is during a "normal" year, how nuts will it be in 2021?

Those who have been Christmas week in the past, was it miserable or were you still able to find some magic?

I have been twice during the week between Christmas and New years though never actually on those holidays. I absolutely love going then despite the crowds. If fast pass and single rider are back then you can easily get on many rides.
But it will be interesting to see how things change between now and then with covid restrictions.

That's an option for us to go after Christmas- before New Year's. If Fast Pass was back by then it would be an easier decision. If Max Pass was back it would be a no brainer. But, so many things are unknown right now.

If you are going the days before Christmas, you will likely have a wonderful time. For several years now, people have posted about how much less crowded it was. Once Christmas day hits, it becomes mega crowded until after New Year's day. Of course, now that they are taking reservations for every day, that might be different this year.

I thought I remembered reading that on here. Thanks for the insight. I'd prefer to go right before Christmas.

We went on Dec 22 in 2014 (a Monday when Christmas was Thursday), and though it was definitely crowded, it wasn't unmanageable. For us, it was worth it because we LOVE Christmas at Disney. We've never been between Christmas and New Years because we're a little scared of that time! I don't think we'd never do it, though. (Or at least, I would do it. Not so sure I could convince DH!)

However, this year, who knows! I would imagine you'd want to get park reservations right at 120 days out.

We haven'e been to Disney since 2018. I don't even know how all the new reservations work for rides, etc. Major learning curve.

Traditionally the week between Christmas and and NYE is when the parks have been reaching capacity shut downs in recent years.

We went between Christmas and New Year's Eve once. Never again. 🤣

Seriously, this is why we never got the Signature Plus AP. Zero desire to go at this time.

I thought of something - Christmas is on a Saturday this year, which means the week leading up to it might actually have slightly lower crowds than usual. I'd guess the further you can get away from Christmas the better. So, could you go the beginning of that Christmas week? Again, this is all based on information from the before times. I haven't been to Disney since 2019.

It would be a stretch getting the whole week off of work, but it wouldn't be the first time one of us had to do a conference call in the parks.
Even if you can't, the days before Christmas are probably going to be better than between Christmas and New Years. :)
