Christmas Week or President's Day Week?

Hi everyone!

We're thinking of a Christmas cruise on DCL this year, but if no TA rates are available for cruises we are interested in, we plan to jump ship (so to speak) and plan a DLR trip instead. We may book some DLR hotel room placeholders in case the cruise doesn't pan out.

We had one glorious year where I wasn't teaching and DD wasn't in school yet, so we were able to go to DLR on a slow week this February. The crowds were super low - partially due to the rainy weather - and we really enjoyed ourselves. I'm sure we would still have a wonderful time in a more crowded park, but we really were spoiled this year!

This fall, DD starts kindergarten, so we feel like we should work around school breaks. Ergo, my question: would Christmas week or President's Day week be better for a DLR trip? (If they're both a hot mess, we'll take her out of school just prior to Christmas or in early February.)

Sure, they will both be busy. I tend to enjoy Feb for Disneyland. It's not too hot and it will be nowhere as crowded as Christmas. Christmas is decorated and very nice, but the days are short and it gets pretty cold when the sun goes down. If I was choosing between the 2 weeks, I'd take President's in Feb.

Historically the week between Christmas and New Years has been the busiest week of the year with gate closures on multiple days. But this will be the second year since Disney has started charging APs a premium to go that week, and the first year that no legacy passes will be around, so we'll see for the first time how that will work.

One thing to consider is will you be flying and how will flying during the holidays and possible delays affect your plans. And check hotel rates, they may be pretty high with low availability already.
