I was just wondering if I am miising something about Christmas week?? I am unsure of why people would go at this time when they could go a few weeks before Christmas and expeirence the same things?? Am I wrong in thinking this? I just could not imagine battling crowds that large, so I guess what I really want to know is what am I missing by going to DW 2 weeks before Christmas??

The only reason we're considering going a few days before Christmas instead of 2 weeks or more before is because we want to avoid DD missing any school. That's all.

Many of us have no choice but to go between Christmas and New Year's because of school vacations. DH is a teacher and DS is now in high school, so I wouldn't feel right about taking him out of school any more. I'm sure many others are in the same position. I would love to go earlier in December, but it's just not possible for us. But I'm sure that you are not missing anything (except the crowds!) by going earlier in the month. It's great that WDW makes the holiday festivities available for such a long period of time so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy them at the best time for their own families.

I think most of the people that go this week are well aware of the crowds, and have a plan for their trip.

I went earlier this week, and in the morning, it wasn't too bad but got busy as the day went on. If you were staying in a resort on site, you would go in the morning, then take a break in the afternoon, and go back in the evening.

Also, I think the mindset that you have going into it helps a lot. I knew it was going to be busy, so the crowds didn't bother me.
